Part-1: General requirements

0. FOREWORD

0.1 This Pakistan Standard was adopted by the authority of the Board of Directs for Pakistan
Standards and Quality Control Authority after the revised draft Prepared by the Sectional
Committee for “Electrical Cables (EDC-7)” had been approved and endorsed by the
Electrotechnical Divisional Council on _27-06-2007.

0.2 The Pakistan Standard PS: 714 was prepared in 1976 on the basis of BS-6004 which was
subsequently revised. It deemed necessary to revise the standard on the basis of IEC:
60227 part 1 to 7 with amendments in order to keep abreast with the latest development
in technology.

0.3 This Standard is an adoption of IEC: 60227 (Part 1) with latest amendments and its use is
hereby acknowledged with thanks.

0.4 This Standard is subject to periodical review in order to keep pace with the changing
requirements and development in the industry. Any suggestions for improvement will be
recorded and placed before he revising committee in due course.
