Experiment 10 DC Servo System (Speed Control Operation)

Objectives

To explore the Operation of a DC Servo System.


To study the Speed Control Operation

Note:- In this experiment, the instructor will introduce the components of the servo and
then demonstrate the open-loop and closed operation of a dc motor for speed and
position. You are advised to read the operation manual available in the lab and
follow the steps given below.

Procedure

Section-1

 Understand the diagrams of the following components of the DC servo system and the
function of each unit along with the specifications.

 Power Supply.
 Servo Amplifier.
 Attenuator Unit.
 Pre-Amplifier Unit.
 Op-Amplifier Unit.

 Draw the block diagram of the open-loop speed control of the dc motor.

 Sketch the open-loop step response without a mechanical load.
