8DIO MINI
8DIO: “MINI”
Produced by Troels Folmann. Co-produced by Mike Peaslee.
MINI is the sound of tiny, little things. It is the tick and the tock, but not the clock. The
little clack, the sound of rock. MINI is the embryonic state of all sound and we want you
invite you back to the womb.
8DIO "MINI" is the most comprehensive sample library done of ultra tiny object
sounds. MINI contains several thousand samples of anything from buttons to bowling
toys, wooden branches to eating chips, boiling frying pans to human hoses, nail files to
pocket watches, sand-drums to styrofoam, teeth clacks to water bubbles etc. The
concept may seem strange at first, but these sounds have remarkable value in terms of
composition and music, since the "MINI" covers a very specific sound and frequency
spectrum.

The abacus is a counting rack or table. The abacus dates back to the Babylonians (300 B.C), but sound
is still fresh. This patch was made by tilting the abacus, so all the counting thingys would clack, so it has
a rather powerful, yet loose clack type of sound.
The air hammer is an inflatable hammer made for children. It makes the coolest noises when you hit
things with it - and got that typical squeaky air sound when you squeeze it. One trick is to downtune

This patch was done by placing a microphone in the far end of a table and bowling toy camels, cups
and train towards it. It has a very scratchy sound and works very effectively as a crescendo type of
sound, especially the camel and train have a deep, powerful sound to them.
Imagine collecting like 100 small branches and breaking them apart. It gives a tiny, little crackly sound.
One tip is to play a variety of the sounds fast and randomly on the keyboard, which ironically sounds
totally like burning wood. The little crackly sounds that happens when the wood breaks in the heat.
This is your go-to kit for button sounds. We recorded 12 different type of buttons from computer
mouse, keyboards, game controllers and so forth. A few of the buttons were recorded at multiple
velocities (example mouse button) and all buttons were recorded with extensive round robin, so you
can MINI in eternity.

The chip eater is a patch made from consuming chips. It is the sound of a starving mouth eagerly
consuming chips in an overly obese way.
Clean Up

Clock Radio
The coin patch was made by dropping coins on a marble floor in an orchestral hall. So random metal
MINI/clacking sounds - some tight - some loose.
This patch involves the recording of four different types of cups/containers. Essentially they were
played by slowly muffling the palm of a hand on the surface of the cup, which means you can control
the tone of the cup. We have a specific MW dedicated patch that allows you to fluently sculpt that
muffling/tone of the cup, so you can create slightly tonal rhythms out of it.
8DIO MINI

The sound of a digital camera being turned on and lens being exposed. Its totally industrial, but

plastic bottles, plastic cups, plastic eggs and toys on a floor.
This patch was made by fiddling with a few childrens plastic eggs. The eggs were opened, closed and
manipulated in different ways.

"human-trumpet" introduced in our Anti-Drum 2 library. Its essentially a kit made of water sounds
and tiny droplet edits.

8DIO MINI
The patch consist of four different plastic cups played open to closed, which means that they were
recorded at different palming on the cup.You can kinda control the tone of a cup by muting it with
you palm and we sampled a variety of different palm/mute levels. We recommend using the MW
