Intended Learning Outcome


Upon completion of the subject, students will be able to:
a. Master reading and writing the Korean Alphabet
b. Have a foundation in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Korean
c. Conduct basic conversations on daily life
d. Understand fundamental sentence structures.

1. Participation (10%)
• Attendance is counted for every lecture and seminar.
• This is a highly interactive course. Students are expected to participate in
class activities actively and enthusiastically.
• No participation marks for those who do not participate in the class
activities.
• No lecture video will be provided to promote attendance.
• Attending across seminars are not allowed.

2. Quizzes (50%)
1) Written quiz (30%)
• Total four quizzes
• Grammar and expressions, verb conjugation, listening to the questions and
writing appropriate answers, etc.

2) Oral quiz (20%)


• Interviewing your partner (15%)
o 3-4 people in one group
o Approximately 15-20 minutes per group
• Picture description (5%)
o Based on the content of Composition 2, explain your picture without
a script

3. Homework (40%)

1) Self-introduction video (5%)


• Making a self-introduction video using what you have learned in Lesson 1
• Creating video using Padlet app
• Collect two or more comments from your classmates

2) Narration dictation (5%)
• Listening to the narration recording and writing it down three times
• Only handwritten paper is accepted.

3) Compositions (10%)
• Two short essays
• Writing about the given topics based on the instructions
• Marks will be deducted for late submissions or incompletion. Zero will be
given for plagiarism including copying from internet sources, using machine
translation, getting help from other people, or copying the textbook lines
with minimal change.

4) Dubbing project (20%)


• Dubbing the aminated video (https://www.youtube.com/@CBSKorean)
• Submit the dubbing upon completion of each textbook Conversation
• Use Padlet app

Class Rules
1. Full attention to the class and active participation in the classroom are
the best and the fastest way to improve any skill, which is expected in all
Korean courses regardless of the level.
2. Bring your textbook to the classroom all the time.
3. Do NOT use a mobile phone during the class.
4. Do NOT eat food during the class. You cannot eat and speak at the same
time. Eating keeps you from practicing speaking.
5. Make-up quizzes can be arranged only with official proof.
6. Late submission of assignment: Deducted to a half mark
7. Plagiarism: No mark
