Updating net work diagram:-

1-preparation of a table showing the number of days required to finish each activity
had not been completed yet according to the new date.
2-redraw the arrow diagram according to remaining days for each activity ,
considering the duration (0) for the activities that had been completed till that day.
3-the earliest time for starting the first activity is the same day where the critical path
was examined .
4-the arrow diagram will be drawn as if it was the original diagram.

Example (5):-
If the project in the pervious example was late for (10) days according to the
planned schedule as shown below. Redraw the arrow diagram then find the new
date for finishing the project . Also show the earliest and latest starts and earliest
and latest finishes , the total float and the free float for each activity. Also show
the critical path.

The Time Grid Diagram:-

In this method the following steps are considered for drawing the diagram and
finding the minimum time for finishing the project and the float for each activity in
the project.

9

1/17/2023
management & economy management

1-drawing all activities arrows and the float time horizontally so that each arrow
starts directly from the end of the arrow of previous activity, then continuing drawing
the diagram to the right through the activities path that are related to each other.
2-the vertical lines in the diagram does not refer to any duration but the sequence of
the activities.
3-the float time stated as a horizontal dotty line with a length that refers to the
duration .So It’s easy to determine the float time for each activity from the arrows of
the diagram which are drawn to the scale of time . So the calendar dates could be
determined for each activity while it’s not possible to do so by the arrow diagram
method.
