HVAC Excellen

Competency and Task List

Introduction

HVAC Excellence offers a comprehensive competency and

task list that outlines the foundational competencies that
should be included in most HVACR training programs. The
specific program being offered will determine the required
competencies, and additional competencies may need to
be incorporated to meet program needs.

Department of Energy

The competency and task list has been updated to include

competencies developed by the Pacific Northwest National
Laboratory (PNNL), a United States Department of Energy
Laboratory, to align with their decarbonization goals.
These competencies are marked with asterisks (*).
Additional new competencies are highlighted in green.

Continuing Education Training Recognition

If applying for HVAC Excellence recognition of your
training program for continuing education hours (ceus),
you must complete your information tab on the
spreadsheet, identify any of the elements of your program
on the checklist. Once the review of your program against
the competency and task list is complete, you may submit
your course recognition application at
https://form.jotform.com/241585774494067.

Textbook Integration

While no specific textbooks are mandated for the integration

of the competency and task list, several publishers have
aligned their publications with this list. Your chosen publisher
can provide valuable assistance in selecting appropriate
materials for your program. Publishers seeking to use the
HVAC Excellence logo on their textbook, must complete the
crosswalk, and submit their application here.
