The Christmas Crunch
Scene 1: Santas Workshop
(Its Christmas Eve Eve, and the elves are in the workshop, making toys for Christmas.) Elf 1: Elf 2: Elf 5: Elf 3: Elf 4: Well, its finally here! Another whole year has flown by and its Christmas again! Its Christmas Eve, so its not strictly Christmas yet! Well its near enough isnt it? Well if you want to get picky about it, its actually Christmas Eve EVE! What?
Elf 5: Christmas Eve EVE. Today is December the 23rd! Its not Christmas Eve until tomorrow! Elf 4: Oh, you ARE kidding me?! Another whole day of hammering and banging and making toys? I thought this was our last day! Elf 1: You must have had two chocolates from your advent calendar on the same day mate. Youre a day ahead of everyone else. Elf 4: I dont believe it! And I was working REALLY hard to get these last few finished in time too! Oh well, I might as well slow down now hadnt I? (He sits down, folds his arms and puts his feet up on another chair.) Elf 6: What are you doing? Youd better not let him catch you like that! Elf 2: Theres still lots to do! Weve got to get all of these loaded up onto the sleigh yet! Come on, its only one more day! Elf 4: Youve got to be joking! Ive been working TWICE as fast as you lot! I thought I was off on my holidays tomorrow! Elf 1: Youll be off for good if you dont get on with it.
Elf 4: Alright, alright, keep your tunic on. Work, work, work thats all we ever do. Elf 3: Just be thankful youve still GOT a job after last years little accident. Elf 2: LITTLE accident?! We had to rebuild the whole of the south wing last year, two weeks before Christmas.

Elf 4: Ah well...nothings happened THIS year has it? And theres only two days to go to the big day! So we can all just relax and.... ALL: NOOOOOooooooo!!!! Elf 4: What? Elf 2: Now youve done it. Elf 4: Done what? Elf 1: Now youve blown it! Elf 4: Blown what? Elf 3: Youve just hit the self destruct button. Elf 4: What does that mean? Elf 3: Thats Santas last resort. Elf 5: His secret weapon. Elf 6: The only way Elf 2: To stop anyone finding his workshop. Elf 1: So youve literally blown it! ALL: UP!!!!!!!! (SFX of explosions, breaking wood and crashes, etc.) Elf 4: Dont worry...weve still got one day left....Fellas....Now steady on guys..... (Scene ends with them chasing him off stage.)
Scene 2: Jack Frosts Lair
Jack: What is wrong with this Santa guy anyway? Does he think I spread all this ice and cold for the good of my health? Nip: Yes...What?. Icicle, sometimes you are such a drip.

Crystal:
Jack: Be quiet you lot Im trying to think. We cant have Santa making everyone feel all warm inside can we? All: No boss!
Jack: We need a plan. All: Yes boss!
Jack: Well? Any bright ideas? All: Erm....(Lots of pacing and thinking) No boss.
Jack: What do I pay you lot for? All: You dont boss!
Jack: Ah...Fair enough. Crystal: We could try making all the rooftops really slippery so he keeps sliding off them.
Jack: No, weve tried that. He had those special ice grippers made that they now use on Dancing On Ice. (In the mean time Icicle has found a large piece of ice and has been licking it but now got his tongue stuck on it unbeknownst to the others.) Icicle: Jack: Crystal: Icicle: Nip: Jack: Icicle: All: Icicle: Crystal: Icicle: Er...Boss. We need something different, cunning. What about freezing up all the chimneys so he cant get down them? Er...Boss. Or creating giant icicles that stop him taking off in the first place. Weve tried all those and none of them worked. ErBoss. WHAT!!!! Could you just give me a hand? What on earth are you doing? I seem to be stuck.

Crystal:
Typical, were trying to figure out a plan and youre messing about.
Jack: Thats brilliant Icicle! Icicle: Is it? Jack: Youre a genius. Icicle: Thats odd cos you normally hit me when I do things like this. Crystal: Nip: Have you got snowstroke boss?
I think hes one drip short of a stalactite.
Jack: Thats it! I can freeze the ground to just the right temperature and Santa with all his reindeer and elves will stick to the ground and wont be able to go anywhere. (Evil laugh going into a cough) Crystal: Thats genius!
Icicle: Thank you. Crystal: Not you, dimwit.
Jack: Come you lot, we have a lot to do and little time to do it. (Exit) Crystal: Coming boss. (Exits)
Icicle: Oh.Nip? OhCrystal? Oh Heck! (Exits taking icicle with himself)
Scene 3: The Robinsons house
Martha: I wish that it would stop snowing.
Tom: Why on earth would you want it to stop? Its great fun out there. Tamsin: Chelsea: Yeah, building snow men. Making snow angels.
Tom: Sledging down the hill out back. Martha: Its just that I heard mummy and daddy talking last night saying that with the credit crunch and work everything was snowballing and they said they may have to tell us that Santa wasnt coming this year.

Tamsin: Chelsea:
You mean that Santa wouldnt make it this year? What? No Santa?
Tom: But thats not fair! Martha: Chelsea: I think its when times are hard, sometimes Santa doesnt have enough presents for everyone so he only gives them to those who have nothing. Ive got nothing, except my Peppa Pig.
Tom: What about my new PSP? Tamsin: Martha: Chelsea: We were all going to get something. Well its just not fair. I guess so but what can WE do about it, do you know where Santa lives? Yes! He lives at the Trafford Centre, Ive seen him there!
Tom: Thats not the real Santa you softie. Chelsea: It is too!
Tom: It is not! Chelsea: It is too! I saw him at the back of his grotto and his breath was so cold you could see it in the air, like on a cold day. (She demonstrates) It was so bad he had to keep putting a white stick in his mouth to stop it but it didnt, it just made it worse. That wasnt the real one Chelsea, he was one of Santas helpers who stands in for him when hes hard at work making toys. Santa doesnt make the toys I know, he has elves to do that but hes the boss isnt he Martha? Yes thats right Chelsea.
Martha: Tamsin: Chelsea: Martha:
Tom: I knew that! Tamsin: Martha: Well its still not fair and I think we should go and tell him! But he lives at the North Pole.
Tom: North Poleyeah.

Martha:
How do you suggest that we get there then?
Tom: Yeah, how do we get there? Martha: Shut up Tom.
Tom: Yeah, shut up..hey. Chelsea: Tamsin: Chelsea: Martha: I know how to get there. Its in my magic book that mummy sometimes reads me. There are no such things as magic books. Are too. Lets not start that again.
Tom: Well go on then smarty pants, show us your magic book. (She brings out a beautifully colourful book and shows it to everyone.) Martha: Chelsea: Look, its getting late and mummy and daddy will be up soon so why dont I just read us all a story and we can think what to do in the morning. Oooh, yes please Martha.
(They all gather round) Martha: It was a Christmas Eve like no other. Everywhere the ground was frozen solid and everywhere you trod you could feel your feet sticking to the ground
Scene 4: Santas loading bay
Elf 3: All: Right, whilst were working near Santas sleigh... DONT TOUCH ANYTHING!!!
Elf 4: But we managed to get it all finished didnt we? Team work that isnt it guys. (This is a scene mainly with just music where the loading of the sleigh is moved out and Jack frost creeping up on Santa and freezing him and everyone around him. They move them off during the next dialogue.) Jack: Crystal: Now I have you old man! No more of that horrible warm niceness.

Nip: Icicle: Jack: Crystal:
No more cosy nights by the fire. Yeah.yeah! Now Im off to spread freezing chaos all over the world. (Exiting) And you cant stop us! (Exiting)
Icicle: And Ill have that thank you!......(Realising hes stuck again.) Oh Crystal? Oh Nip? Oh not again.
Scene 5: Somewhere at the North Pole
(The children appear from the wings as if falling from somewhere) Bunting: Halt who goes there!
Con: Identify yourself! Fetti: Stand up! All 3: We are the guards to the North Pole. (The children rise) Help, help, were under attack!!! (Running around in panic bumping into each other.) Tamsin: Martha: Wait. Were not going to hurt you.
Tom: Oh cool, little elves, its just like in one of my games. (Mad running around) Chelsea: STOP!!!
(They all freeze) You stop chasing them and theyll stop running. As for you guys, stand still and listen. Martha: Tamsin: Thank you Chelsea. We only want to know where Santas workshop is. So we can give him a piece of our minds.
Elves: Eeeeewwwwthats disgusting! Tom: They dont mean out of their heads you ninnys.

Martha: Bunting: Tamsin:
We heard that he wasnt going to bring us any presents this year. Who told you that? No one told us, we overheard it.
Pop: Well its just not true. Glitter:No, he would never do that! Martha: Bunting: Then why dont YOU take us to him and well see for ourselves. This is highly irregular but seeing as youre here we may as well. Follow me.
Scene 6: Jack Frost Wreaks Havoc
(This whole scene is done through movement to music)
Scene 7: Santas Loading Bay
(The Elves enter followed by the Children. All are shocked by what they see.) Bunting: Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, oh my goodness.
Fetti: This isnt good. Con: This is very bad. Glitter:Oh dear! Martha: Bunting: What on earth has happened here? This is could only be the doing of one person.
Elves: JACK FROST!!! Tamsin: Everyone knows that Jack Frost isnt real!
Santa: And did you think that I wasnt real too? Tom: Is that....? Santa: Yes, Im Santa but what are you doing here? No one should be able to find my workshop, this is a disaster.

Chelsea:
Is it true that youre not bringing us presents?
Santa: I beg your pardon? Tamsin: You heard him. We know that youre not coming to us with presents this year.
Tom: Yes, and we think thats jolly unfair. Martha: Tamsin, Tom, where are your manners? That is not how you talk to Santa.
Santa: Thats alright, they had every right if they thought that I wasnt going to come to them and bring their presents. Tom: You mean you WERE going to come all along? Santa: Of course. Bunting: But hes not going anywhere if we dont get them all free!
Santa: Its hopeless, weve tried everything, looks like Jack Frost has finally beaten us. (They all look for different ways to release them, apart from Chelsea who looks very sad.) Chelsea: Thats so mean. There will be so many sad children and that makes me sad too. (She starts to cry, gently at first, then louder and louder.)
Santa: Please dont be so sad. Bunting: Please dont cry little girl.
(Everyone starts to get upset too. As everyone starts to cry we see that Santa can start to move his feet, and then all the other elves can move.) Martha: Tamsin: Santa: Tom: Santa: Martha: Children: Well done Chelsea, your tears have melted the ice. And set everyone free. Theres just one problem. But youre free now so you can deliver the presents. Theres only one hour left in which to do it and thats cutting it fine even for me. What if we were to help you? Yes, yes, let us help Santa, please....

Santa:
I can hardly refuse now can I? Come on everyone, lets deliver these presents!
(Music played as there is movement to represent Santa and the children delivering presents.)
Scene 8: Somewhere In Romiley
Jack: Crystal: Icicle: Both: Icicle: Crystal: Jack: Ha,ha this is great! Now I can do anything I want and winter will never end! No more goody, goody Santa! It is a shame though.... WHAT??? Id ordered a lovely present from Santa for you Crystal. What? A present? For me? No ones ever done anything like that for me. Will you two stop getting sloppy and soft and get on with what I dont pay you for.
Both: Yes boss! Sorry Boss! We wont do it again boss! Jack: Sssshhhh...What was that? Crystal: What was what?
Icicle: Sorry boss that was my stomach Im really hungry. Jack: Not that sound. (We hear sleigh bells.) THAT sound!! Icicle: Its HIM. Crystal: How did he escape?
Jack: I have a feeling this is not going to end well.... (Lots of little presents start to drop onto stage which Crystal and Icicle start to pick up and look at. Then one great big present lands on top of Jack. Everyone enters and they all sing Merry Christmas Everybody.) THE END
