TASK 6:

1. 1. What grammar lessons will you consider to support the acquisition of the grade
level standard?

- To support the acquisition of the grade-level standard, lessons can focus on

distinguishing and using technical terms in research, including the formation and
application of technical vocabulary in context. Grammar instruction should
include forming and analyzing technical and operational definitions, with an
emphasis on clarity and grammatical accuracy. Expanding word definitions can be
achieved by teaching the use of modifiers, clauses, and clear sentence structures.
Additionally, lessons on grammar rules related to making definitions should cover
essential topics such as subject-verb agreement, consistent tense usage, and logical
organization. Finally, practical application can involve teaching students to write
research reports with a focus on transitions, coherence, and avoiding grammatical
errors, ensuring both accuracy and fluency in their academic writing.

2. What are your bases for your answers in item 1?

- My bases are the essential learning competencies outlined in the MELC

curriculum, as they guide the grammar lessons required for the specific grade
level standard. Additionally, these competencies align with the overarching goal
of improving communicative and grammatical competence.

3. What assessment tasks will you give to evaluate students’ mastery of the grammar
items?

- To help students improve their grammar skills, activities can include quizzes that
focus on identifying and using technical terms and definitions. Students can also
practice building sentences by creating expanded definitions using correct
grammar. Writing tasks, where students compose research-related sentences and
review each other’s work, can ensure proper grammar use. Error-correction
exercises can help students learn to spot and fix mistakes in given texts.
Additionally, group presentations can give students practice using accurate
grammar while explaining definitions and ideas.
4. What challenges will you probably encounter in developing the students’ grammatical
competence? How will you deal with them?

- Students may face challenges such as limited knowledge of basic grammar,

difficulty remembering complex rules, lack of interest or motivation to learn, and
trouble using grammar correctly in real-life situations. To address these issues,
teachers can use step-by-step techniques to gradually build grammar skills.
Interactive activities like games and role-playing can make learning more fun and
engaging. Providing clear and regular feedback on writing and speaking tasks
helps students improve. Additionally, connecting grammar lessons to practical
writing and speaking exercises can make it easier for students to apply what they
learn in real-world situations.
