Student Name: ANIKET DAS UID: 24BDA70336

Branch: Computer Science & Engineering Section/Group: 113 A
Semester: 1 Date of Performance: 06.09.2024
Subject Name: Emerging & Disruptive Technologies Workshop
Subject Code: 24ECP-103

1. Aim of the practical: Understanding different AR effects along with exploration of AR tool
interface and capabilities

2. Tool Used: BlippAR

3. Basic Concept/ Command Description:

(i) Introduction to AR: Augmented reality (AR) is an enhanced version of the real
physical world that is achieved through the use of digital visual elements, sound, or
other sensory stimuli delivered via technology.
Augmented reality is a technology that adds digital images or
information to the real world around us. AR blends digital elements with the physical
world. BlippAR is an augmented reality (AR) platform that allows users to create,
publish, and interact with AR content. As technology advances, its applications are
likely to expand, AR holds great potential for enhancing our everyday experiences.

(ii) Types of AR: There are two types of AR-

 Marker-Based AR: This type of AR uses markers, such as QR codes, to

trigger virtual content on a device. The markers are recognized by the camera of
the device, and overlays the virtual content onto the real world. Marker-based
AR is commonly used in advertising, education and gaming.

 Marker-Less AR: Unlike marker-based AR, this type of AR doesn’t require

any markers. It uses the camera of a device to recognize objects or patterns in
the real world to trigger virtual content. Markerless AR is commonly used in
navigation, industrial design, and gaming. Its sub types are-
i. Location-based AR.
ii. Projection-based AR.
iii. Contour-based AR.
iv. Superimposition-based AR.

4. Code:
1. After login in blippAR, we create a new project and give name to the project, and select
around you.
2. We select the built-in widgets and insert the text box and write what we want to display.
3. We open another scene, scene 2 where we add 3D models that we want to display.
4. Further we move to scene 1 again and select the text box.
5. Then we select action on touch, and select go to scene, and select scene 2.
6. Use text on device button to get a QR code which is further used to scan and access it
over smartphones.
7. Test the project on mobile phone and experiment various features accordingly.

5. Observations, Simulation Screen Shots and Discussions:

6. Result and Summary:

 Markerless tracking accurately tracked environment.

 Plane detection successfully identification flat surfaces.
 3D model rendering was smooth and realistic.
 Animations and interactions responded as expected.

7. Learning outcomes (What I have learnt):

1. Understanding the integration of multimedia elements in AR models to create

interactions experiences using tools like BlippAR.
2. Learn how to implement touch interactions with AR environments, such as triggering
actions like color changes or texture updates on 3D models.
3. Gain experiences in applying chroma key technology to seamlessly integrate videos
into augmented reality environment.
4. Explore the customization of 3D models by adding textures and color variations to
enhance visual engagement in AR.

5. Develop skills in creating immersive AR applications by combining videos, audio,

GIFs and 3D models into a cohesive, interactive project.
