RE: END OF TERM III 2024 CIRCULAR
We thank God that we have successfully come to the end of Term III, 2024. Please take note of the following:

(i) S2 , S3 ,S5 and S6 Students Medical Examination
• Please note that this will be conducted at school.
Teaching and Learning:
The process was successfully conducted and we were able to meet the set targets for the term and the year.
UCE/UACE 2024 Examinations
The UCE Examinations commenced on 11th October with briefing of the candidates. They were concluded on
8th November, 2024. The UACE Candidates briefing was held on 8th November and the examinations end on
6th December, 2024. We are optimistic that our candidates will perform well.
Senior Three (2025) Elective/optional Subjects
Parents of S3 Learners please check the Report System for the form and guidance on the elective subjects.
Learners are advised not to opt for a subject that they have not been offering since Senior One. This is
because such learners do not have any previous record of marks (continuous assessment) for such a subject.
UACE 2025 UNEB Registration Requirements
• Two photocopies of the UCE pass-slip and a copy of the birth certificate
• Shs 8,000/= (eight thousand shillings only), payable to the School Bursar, for registration
photographs.
Learners Notes
It has come to our notice that some learners do not have notes in their books. You are therefore requested
to check the books and counter-sign thereafter on the last page.
Activities of Integration
• Activities of Integration (AOI)s are an essential part of the overall assessment in the New Lower
Secondary School Curriculum.
• Parents are discouraged from engaging learners during the periods of writing AOIs.

Guidance and Counseling
We continue to remind parents that we have two full time School Counsellors. Our Learners are encouraged
to seek psycho-social support whenever they need it.
Meetings with Specific Parents
From time to time, we identify learners who might need special support. These are in various categories e.g.
time takers; special needs learners, etc. We therefore have arrangements to meet with parents of these
learners in the course of the term.
Payment of School Fees
Parents are requested to note that:
1. School fees for S2 may be paid to Bank of Africa or Centenary Bank or by the mobile money school
pay system.
2. School fees for S3 and S4 may be paid to Stanbic Bank or by mobile money school pay system.
3. School fees for S6 may be paid to Centenary Bank or by mobile money school pay system.
4. Please use the students school fees payment code with your preferred payment option.
5. Learners will be received at school only after paying all the school fees.
UNEB Registration and External Candidate Facilitation Programme
Senior Four:
(a) S4 UNEB Registration (UCE 2025): 177,000/=
(b) S4 Candidates External Facilitation programme: 140,000/=
The payments should be made with the school Fees.
Senior Six:
(a) S6 UNEB Registration (UACE 2025):256,000/=
(b) S6 Candidates External Facilitation Programme: 140,000/=

The BYOD ICT Policy
The school is continuing with the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) ICT Policy. We encourage parents to provide
Laptops to their children especially those who take subjects that require research. However, these Laptops
should be duly registered and kept with the ICT Department.
Students Pocket Money
Students are advised to keep on themselves an amount which does not exceed Shs. 20,000/=. Any excess
of this should be kept with the School Bursar. Parents are also advised to give only a reasonable amount of
pocket money.
Study Projects
(i) Entrepreneurship
• S6 Entrepreneurship project: 50,000/=; parents who have not yet paid for this are kindly reminded.
• S2 Entrepreneurship class will visit VITAFOAM Mattress Industries in Jinja on Thursday 27th February,

(ii) Geography
• S4 Geography Study Trip to Western Uganda will take place from 5th- 9th to May, 2025. Parents are
advised to obtain details from the Head of Department on: 0776839661.
(iii) Physics
S.4 Site visits to Electric Energy power plants/stations and substations:
o Kawanda Substation.
o Namugoga Solar power station
o Port Bell Substation.

(iv) Kiswahili
S4 External Seminar at Mengo Senior School on Saturday 22nd March, 2025. Obtain details from the

(v) Agriculture
Students’ Agricultural Farm Project
All S3 and S6 students of Agriculture are required to bring the following items:
(i) A pair of gumboots
(ii) A pair of garden gloves
(iii) A re-usable mask (to be used during spraying)
N.B. All students of Agriculture will be required to have a gardening coat or apron in forest green
colour. These are obtainable from school. Please contact the Head of Department on 0704941940.
(vi) Technical Drawing
The S2 TD students will visit Namataba Uganda Timber and Metal Industries on Monday 17 th February
2025. Obtain details from Head of Department on 0780666225.
(vii) Chemistry
S3 students will have a study trip to Kakira Sugar Works on 7 th March 2025. Details are obtainable
from the Head of Department on Tel. No. 0772153963.
(viii) Luganda
The S4 and S6 candidates will watch set plays in the course of Term I 2025. Details are obtainable
from the Head of Department on 0772915493.
DIT Vocational Activities
• The Learners who registered for DIT have been trained for eight weeks and they have been assessed.
• The Senior Three Learners of 2025 will be eligible to sit for DIT theory and practical exams in Term III
(these exams are only for Learners who are ready to be assessed).
• Parents of Senior Two (2025) Learners who did not register for DIT courses still have the opportunity
to have their children enrolled.
• Learners cannot register for DIT in Senior Three; only those who have been training in Senior Two
can continue with their courses in Senior Three.

Uganda Mathematics Contest 2024
Fourteen of our students qualified to represent Makerere College School at the International Mathematical
Olympiad at the 2024 training Camp that will take place at Light Academy in Lweza. We are optimistic that
they will perform well.
Co-Curricular Activities
• Scouts Weekend Training Camp at Ziika Forest: 7th to 9th March, 2025, obtain details from the Scouts
Patron on: 0703634667.
• MACOS contested in the Young Orators Motivational Speakers Competition which was organized by the
Association of Uganda Public Speakers. We emerged second best.
• We plan to introduce the game of Hockey and more indoor games next.
• Parents who would like to have their children take swimming lessons should have them registered with
the deputy Head Teacher (Co-curricular).

Students’ Health
• The S2, S3 and S6 Medical Examination will be conducted at School.
• Parents are also requested to respond promptly whenever the school calls on a medical emergency.
• Please remember that the school sick bays are only equipped to administer first aid and complicated
cases are referred. The parent is fully responsible for the bills of the referred cases.
School Uniform and General Grooming
• Please ensure that your child is well groomed before returning to school. The students’ hair should
be short and well kept. Male students should not have beards or sideburns.
• All Boarders (including those of affiliated hostels) are required to have hostel wear.
• Students who tamper with the school uniform will be requested to buy a new decent set of uniforms.
Open shoes and non-uniform sweaters are not allowed during class time.
• Students with ill-fitting uniforms will be required to buy new ones.
• Crocs are not allowed in school.
S4 and S6 Luncheons
Kindly take note of the S4 and S6 Candidates Luncheons:
• S4: Saturday, 1st March, 2025.
• S6: Saturday, 8th March, 2025.
Provide decent attire to your child for the above stated function.
EMIS Registration
You are reminded that Learner Registration is a compulsory requirement and parents who did not complete
this process are advised to do so.
Contraband Material/Prohibited Operations
Students should be reminded not to:
• Come with any contraband items such as phones, electronic gadgets, etc.
• Engage in crypto-currency trading, forex trading and all manner of trade while at school.
School requirements for 2025
• An ordinary (not smart) wrist watch.
• A calculator and graph-book for all students of mathematics
• A Box file
• A dictionary
• Rain Coat and Umbrella
• A separate list of requirements for boarders is available on the school website.
• English to Kiswahili Translated Dictionary by Muhindo and Wakasi (for Kiswahili students; available at
School).
• Kiswahili Workbook (S1 -S4) (available at school)
• Functional and Creative Writing Skills for Lower Secondary School Curriculum (available at school).
• Chemistry Elements of Construct Book
• At least six handkerchiefs for all students.
• At least two black petticoats/and two black biker pants for all girls.
• At least four boxer pants for all boys.
Mess Requirements
• All students in the boarding section should carry a cup, plate and fork
• Students in the day section should carry a plate and fork for their lunch.

Visiting Learners
Parents are strongly advised to desist from visiting learners during class time unless they have been invited
by the School Administration.
Visitors’ Dress Code
All visitors to the school should come when decently dressed. This is in effort to promote the school values
and those of the entire MACOS Community. We drew and displayed guidelines regarding this at the
entrances of the school.
