Compute the Target Heart Rate
1. MHR= 220-your age
2. HRR= MHR- Resting Heart Rate
3. Take 60% and 80% of the HRR
a. Take 60% x HRR=.60x143
= 85.8 or 86 bpm
b. Take 80%x HRR= .80x143 =
114.4 or 114 bpm
4. Add each HRR to Resting Heart
Rate (RHR) to obtain the Target
Heart Rate (THR) range.
a. 60% HRR = 86+60
= 146 beats per minute
b. 80% HRR = 114 + 60
= 174 beats per minute
Therefore, your target heart
rate is 146 to 174 beats per
minute.
