Lord’s Supper
[17]Now in giving these instructions I do
not praise you, since you come together
not for the better but for the worse.
[18]For first of all, when you come
together as a church, I hear that there are
divisions among you, and in part I believe
it.
[19]For there must also be factions
among you, that those who are approved
may be recognized among you.
[20]Therefore when you come together in
one place, it is not to eat the Lord’s
Supper.

supper ahead of others; and one is hungry
and another is drunk.

RULES FOR DEVINE WORSHIP
1 Corinthians 11:1-34
[1]Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
Head Coverings
[2]Now I praise you, brethren, that you
remember me in all things and keep the
traditions just as I delivered them to you.
[3]But I want you to know that the head of
every man is Christ, the head of woman is
man, and the head of Christ is God.
[4]Every man praying or prophesying,
having his head covered, dishonors his
head.
[5]But every woman who prays or
prophesies with her head uncovered
dishonors her head, for that is one and the
same as if her head were shaved.
[6]For if a woman is not covered, let her
also be shorn. But if it is shameful for a
15
woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be
covered.
[7]For a man indeed ought not to cover his
head, since he is the image and glory of
God; but woman is the glory of man.
[8]For man is not from woman, but
woman from man.
[9]Nor was man created for the woman,
but woman for the man.
[10]For this reason the woman ought to
have a symbol of authority on her head,
because of the angels.
[11]Nevertheless, neither is man
independent of woman, nor woman
independent of man, in the Lord.
[12]For as woman came from man, even
so man also comes through woman; but
all things are from God.
[13]Judge among yourselves. Is it proper
for a woman to pray to God with her head
uncovered?
[14]Does not even nature itself teach you
that if a man has long hair, it is a
16
dishonor to him?
[15]But if a woman has long hair, it is a
glory to her; for her hair is given to her for
a covering.
[16]But if anyone seems to be
contentious, we have no such custom, nor
do the churches of God. Conduct at the
Lord’s Supper
[17]Now in giving these instructions I do
not praise you, since you come together
not for the better but for the worse.
[18]For first of all, when you come
together as a church, I hear that there are
divisions among you, and in part I believe
it.
[19]For there must also be factions
among you, that those who are approved
may be recognized among you.
[20]Therefore when you come together in
one place, it is not to eat the Lord’s
Supper.
[21]For in eating, each one takes his own
supper ahead of others; and one is hungry
and another is drunk.
[22]What! Do you not have houses to eat
17
and drink in? Or do you despise the
church of God and shame those who
have nothing? What shall I say to you?
Shall I praise you in this? I do not praise
you. Institution of the Lord’s Supper
[23]For I received from the Lord that
which I also delivered to you: that the
Lord Jesus on the same night in which He
was betrayed took bread;
[24]and when He had given thanks, He
broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My
body which is broken for you; do this in
remembrance of Me.”
[25]In the same manner He also took the
cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the
new covenant in My blood. This do, as
often as you drink it, in remembrance of
Me.”
[26]For as often as you eat this bread and
drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s
death till He comes. Examine Yourself
[27]Therefore whoever eats this bread or
drinks this cup of the Lord in an
18
unworthy manner will be guilty of the
body and blood of the Lord.
[28]But let a man examine himself, and
so let him eat of the bread and drink of
the cup.
[29]For he who eats and drinks in an
unworthy manner eats and drinks
judgment to himself, not discerning the
Lord’s body.
[30]For this reason many are weak and
sick among you, and many sleep.
[31]For if we would judge ourselves, we
would not be judged.
[32]But when we are judged, we are
chastened by the Lord, that we may not
be condemned with the world.
[33]Therefore, my brethren, when you
come together to eat, wait for one
another.
[34]But if anyone is hungry, let him eat at
home, lest you come together for
judgment. And the rest I will set in order
when I come.

EXPLANATION OF LOVE
Romans 13:9-11
[9]For the commandments, “You shall not
commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,”
“You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear
false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if
there is any other commandment, are all
summed up in this saying, namely, “You
shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
[10]Love does no harm to a neighbor;
therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
Put on Christ
[11]And do this, knowing the time, that
now it is high time to awake out of sleep;
for now our salvation is nearer than when
we first believed.
20
GOD'S SPOKE OF HIS BELOVED
John 3:16-21
[16]For God so loved the world that He
gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him should not
perish but have everlasting life.
[17]For God did not send His Son into the
world to condemn the world, but that the
world through Him might be saved.
[18]“He who believes in Him is not
condemned; but he who does not believe
is condemned already, because he has not
believed in the name of the only begotten
Son of God.
[19]And this is the condemnation, that the
light has come into the world, and men
loved darkness rather than light, because
their deeds were evil.
[20]For everyone practicing evil hates the
light and does not come to the light, lest
his deeds should be exposed.
[21]But he who does the truth comes to
the light, that his deeds may be clearly
seen, that they have been done in God.”
John the Baptist Exalts Christ
21
[8]Now I say that Jesus Christ has
become a servant to the circumcision for
the truth of God, to confirm the promises
made to the fathers,
[9]and that the Gentiles might glorify God
for His mercy, as it is written: “For this
reason I will confess to You among the
Gentiles, And sing to Your name.”
22
THE TEMPLE OF GOD AND THE HOLINESS
OF THE BODY.
1 Corinthians 6:12-20
[12]All things are lawful for me, but all
things are not helpful. All things are lawful
for me, but I will not be brought under the
power of any.
[13]Foods for the stomach and the
stomach for foods, but God will destroy
both it and them. Now the body is not for
sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the
Lord for the body.
[14]And God both raised up the Lord and
will also raise us up by His power.
[15]Do you not know that your bodies are
members of Christ? Shall I then take the
members of Christ and make them
members of a harlot? Certainly not!
[16]Or do you not know that he who is
joined to a harlot is one body with her? For
“the two,” He says, “shall become one
flesh.”
[17]But he who is joined to the Lord is one
spirit with Him.
[18]Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that
23
a man does is outside the body, but he
who commits sexual immorality sins
against his own body.
[19]Or do you not know that your body is
the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you,
whom you have from God, and you are not
your own?
[20]For you were bought at a price;
therefore glorify God in your body and in
your spirit, which are God’s.
24
tenderhearted, forgiving one another,
even as God in Christ forgave you.
Ephesians 5:1-13
[1]Therefore be imitators of God as dear
children.
[2]And walk in love, as Christ also has
loved us and given Himself for us, an
offering and a sacrifice to God for a
sweet-smelling aroma.
[3]But fornication and all uncleanness or
covetousness, let it not even be named
among you, as is fitting for saints;
[4]neither filthiness, nor foolish talking,
nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting,
but rather giving of thanks.
[5]For this you know, that no fornicator,
unclean person, nor covetous man, who
is an idolater, has any inheritance in the
kingdom of Christ and God.
[6]Let no one deceive you with empty
words, for because of these things the
wrath of God comes upon the sons of
disobedience.
[7]Therefore do not be partakers with
25
them. Walk in Light
[8]For you were once darkness, but now
you are light in the Lord. Walk as children
of light
[9](for the fruit of the Spirit is in all
goodness, righteousness, and truth),
[10]finding out what is acceptable to the
Lord.
[11]And have no fellowship with the
unfruitful works of darkness, but rather
expose them.
[12]For it is shameful even to speak of
those things which are done by them in
secret.
[13]But all things that are exposed are
made manifest by the light, for whatever
makes manifest is light.
1 Peter 5:5-11
[5]Likewise you younger people, submit
yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you
be submissive to one another, and be
clothed with humility, for “God resists the
proud, But gives grace to the humble.”
26
[6]Therefore humble yourselves under the
mighty hand of God, that He may exalt
you in due time,
[7]casting all your care upon Him, for He
cares for you.
[8]Be sober, be vigilant; because your
adversary the devil walks about like a
roaring lion, seeking whom he may
devour.
[9]Resist him, steadfast in the faith,
knowing that the same sufferings are
experienced by your brotherhood in the
world.
[10]But may the God of all grace, who
called us to His eternal glory by Christ
Jesus, after you have suffered a while,
perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle
you.
[11]To Him be the glory and the dominion
forever and ever. Amen. Farewell and
Peace

HELP YOUR NEIGHBORS
Romans 15:1-9
[1]We then who are strong ought to bear
with the scruples of the weak, and not to
please ourselves.
[2]Let each of us please his neighbor for
his good, leading to edification.
[3]For even Christ did not please Himself;
but as it is written, “The reproaches of
those who reproached You fell on Me.”
[4]For whatever things were written before
were written for our learning, that we
through the patience and comfort of the
Scriptures might have hope.
[5]Now may the God of patience and
comfort grant you to be like-minded
toward one another, according to Christ
Jesus,
[6]that you may with one mind and one
mouth glorify the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ. Glorify God Together
[7]Therefore receive one another, just as
Christ also received us, to the glory of
God.
29
[8]Now I say that Jesus Christ has
become a servant to the circumcision for
the truth of God, to confirm the promises
made to the fathers,
[9]and that the Gentiles might glorify God
for His mercy, as it is written: “For this
reason I will confess to You among the
Gentiles, And sing to Your name.”
30
PROPER TEACHINGS OF LIFE
Ephesians 4:17-32
[17]This I say, therefore, and testify in the
Lord, that you should no longer walk as
the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility
of their mind,
[18]having their understanding darkened,
being alienated from the life of God,
because of the ignorance that is in them,
because of the blindness of their heart;
[19]who, being past feeling, have given
themselves over to lewdness, to work all
uncleanness with greediness.
[20]But you have not so learned Christ,
[21]if indeed you have heard Him and have
been taught by Him, as the truth is in
Jesus:
[22]that you put off, concerning your
former conduct, the old man which grows
corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,
[23]and be renewed in the spirit of your
mind,
[24]and that you put on the new man
31
which was created according to God, in
true righteousness and holiness. Do Not
Grieve the Spirit
[25]Therefore, putting away lying, “Let
each one of you speak truth with his
neighbor,” for we are members of one
another.
[26]“Be angry, and do not sin”: do not
let the sun go down on your wrath,
[27]nor give place to the devil.
[28]Let him who stole steal no longer,
but rather let him labor, working with his
hands what is good, that he may have
something to give him who has need.
[29]Let no corrupt word proceed out of
your mouth, but what is good for
necessary edification, that it may impart
grace to the hearers.
[30]And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of
God, by whom you were sealed for the
day of redemption.
[31]Let all bitterness, wrath, anger,
clamor, and evil speaking be put away
from you, with all malice.
[32]And be kind to one another,
32
tenderhearted, forgiving one another,
even as God in Christ forgave you.

FAITH AND WORK
James 1:22-27
[22]But be doers of the word, and not
hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
[23]For if anyone is a hearer of the word
and not a doer, he is like a man
observing his natural face in a mirror;
[24]for he observes himself, goes away,
and immediately forgets what kind of
man he was.
[25]But he who looks into the perfect
law of liberty and continues in it, and is
not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the
work, this one will be blessed in what he
does.
[26]If anyone among you thinks he is
religious, and does not bridle his tongue
but deceives his own heart, this one’s
religion is useless.
[27]Pure and undefiled religion before God
and the Father is this: to visit orphans and
widows in their trouble, and to keep
oneself unspotted from the world.
37
James 2:10-26
[10]For whoever shall keep the whole
law, and yet stumble in one point, he is
guilty of all.
[11]For He who said, “Do not commit
adultery,” also said, “Do not murder".
Now if you do not commit adultery, but
you do murder, you have become a
transgressor of the law.
[12]So speak and so do as those who will
be judged by the law of liberty.
[13]For judgment is without mercy to the
one who has shown no mercy. Mercy
triumphs over judgment. Faith Without
Works Is Dead
[14]What does it profit, my brethren, if
someone says he has faith but does not
have works? Can faith save him?
[15]If a brother or sister is naked and
destitute of daily food,
[16]and one of you says to them, “Depart
in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do
not give them the things which are needed
for the body, what does it profit?
[17]Thus also faith by itself, if it does not
38
have works, is dead.
[18]But someone will say, “You have
faith, and I have works .” Show me your
faith without your works, and I will show
you my faith by my works.
[19]You believe that there is one God. You
do well. Even the demons believed and
tremble!
[20]But do you want to know, O foolish
man, that faith without works is dead?
[21]Was not Abraham our father justified
by works when he offered Isaac his son
on the altar?
[22]Do you see that faith was working
together with his works, and by works
faith was made perfect?
[23]And the Scripture was fulfilled which
says, “Abraham believed God, and it was
accounted to him for righteousness" And
he was called the friend of God.
[24]You see then that a man is justified by
works, and not by faith only.
[25]Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot
also justified by works when she
39
received the messengers and sent them
out another way?
[26]For as the body without the spirit is
dead, so faith without works is dead also.
40
CAUSES OF OUR PROBLEMS
James 4:1-17
[1]Where do wars and fights come from
among you? Do they not come from your
desires for pleasure that war in your
members?
[2]You lust and do not have. You murder
and covet and cannot obtain. You fight
and war. Yet you do not have because you
do not ask.
[3]You ask and do not receive, because
you ask amiss, that you may spend it on
your pleasures.
[4]Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you
not know that friendship with the world is
enmity with God? Whoever therefore
wants to be a friend of the world makes
himself an enemy of God.
[5]Or do you think that the Scripture says
in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns
jealously”?
[6]But He gives more grace. Therefore He
says: “God resists the proud, But gives
grace to the humble.” Humility Cures
Worldliness
41
[7]Therefore submit to God. Resist the
devil and he will flee from you.
[8]Draw near to God and He will draw near
to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners;
and purify your hearts, you double-
minded.
[9]Lament and mourn and weep! Let your
laughter be turned to mourning and your
joy to gloom.
[10]Humble yourselves in the sight of the
Lord, and He will lift you up. Do Not Judge
a Brother
[11]Do not speak evil of one another,
brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother
and judges his brother, speaks evil of the
law and judges the law. But if you judge
the law, you are not a doer of the law but a
judge.
[12]There is one Lawgiver, who is able to
save and to destroy. Who are you to judge
another? Do Not Boast About Tomorrow
[13]Come now, you who say, “Today or
tomorrow we will go to such and such a
42
city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and
make a profit”;
[14]whereas you do not know what will
happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It
is even a vapor that appears for a little
time and then vanishes away.
[15]Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord
wills, we shall live and do this or that.”
[16]But now you boast in your arrogance.
All such boasting is evil.
[17]Therefore, to him who knows to do
good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
43
RICH AND POOR
James 5:1-7
[1]Come now, you rich, weep and howl
for your miseries that are coming upon
you!
[2]Your riches are corrupted, and your
garments are moths eaten.
[3]Your gold and silver are corroded,
and their corrosion will be a witness
against you and will eat your flesh like
fire. You have heaped up treasure in the
last days.
[4]Indeed the wages of the laborers who
mowed your fields, which you kept back
by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the
reapers have reached the ears of the
Lord of Sabaoth.
[5]You have lived on the earth in
pleasure and luxury; you have fattened
your hearts as in a day of slaughter.
[6]You have condemned, you have
murdered the just; he does not resist
you. Be Patient and Persevering
[7]Therefore be patient, brethren, until
the coming of the Lord. See how the
44
farmer waits for the precious fruit of the
earth, waiting patiently for it until it
receives the early and latter rain.
Matthew 19:16-30

shall I do that I may have eternal life?”

[20]The young man said to Him, “All
these things I have kept from my youth.
What do I still lack?”
[21]Jesus said to him, “If you want to be
perfect, go, sell what you have and give
45
to the poor, and you will have treasure in
heaven; and come, follow Me”.
[22]But when the young man heard that
saying, he went away sorrowful, for he
had great possessions. With God All
Things Are Possible
[23]Then Jesus said to His disciples,
“Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a
rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
[24]And again I say to you, it is easier for a
camel to go through the eye of a needle
than for a rich man to enter the kingdom
of God”.
[25]When His disciples heard it, they were
greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can
be saved?”
[26]But Jesus looked at them and said to
them, “With men this is impossible, but
with God all things are possible”.
[27]Then Peter answered and said to Him,
“See, we have left all and followed You.
Therefore what shall we have?”
[28]So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I
say to you, that in the regeneration, when
the Son of Man sits on the throne
46
of His glory, you who have followed Me
will also sit on twelve thrones, judging
the twelve tribes of Israel.
[29]And everyone who has left houses
or brothers or sisters or father or mother
or wife or children or lands, for My name’s
sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and
inherit eternal life.
[30]But many who are first will be last, and
the last first.

your own eye, and then you will see clearly
to remove the speck from your brother’s

Mark 16:1-2

Magdalene, Mary the mother of James,
and Salome bought spices, that they
might come and anoint Him.
[2]Very early in the morning, on the first
day of the week, they came to the tomb
when the sun had risen.

is also Lord of the Sabbath.” Healing on
the Sabbath
Matthew 28:1

of the week began to dawn, Mary
49
Magdalene and the other Mary came to
see the tomb.

MORE TEACHINGS
Matthew 7:1-29
[1]“Judge not, that you be not judged.
[2]For with what judgment you judge,
you will be judged; and with the measure
you use, it will be measured back to you.
[3]And why do you look at the speck in
your brother’s eye, but do not consider
the plank in your own eye?
[4]Or how can you say to your brother,
‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’;
and look, a plank is in your own eye?
[5]Hypocrite! First remove the plank
from your own eye, and then you will see
clearly to remove the speck from your
brother’s eye.
[6]“Do not give what is holy to the dogs;
nor cast your pearls before swine, lest
they trample them under their feet, and
turn and tear you in pieces. Keep Asking,
Seeking, Knocking
[7]“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek,
and you will find; knock, and it will be
opened to you.
[8]For everyone who asks receives, and
52
he who seeks finds, and to him who
knocks it will be opened.
[9]Or what man is there among you who, if
his son asks for bread, will give him a
stone?
[10]Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him
a serpent?
[11]If you then, being evil, know how to
give good gifts to your children, how much
more will your Father who is in heaven
give good things to those who ask Him!
[12]Therefore, whatever you want men to
do to you, do also to them, for this is the
Law and the Prophets. The Narrow Way
[13]“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is
the gate and broad is the way that leads
to destruction, and there are many who go
in by it.
[14]Because narrow is the gate and
difficult is the way which leads to life, and
there are few who find it. You Will Know
Them by Their Fruits
[15]“Beware of false prophets, who
53
come to you in sheep’s clothing, but
inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
[16]You will know them by their fruits. Do
men gather grapes from thornbushes or
figs from thistles?
[17]Even so, every good tree bears good
fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
[18]A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor
can a bad tree bear good fruit.
[19]Every tree that does not bear good
fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
[20]Therefore by their fruits you will know
them. I Never Knew You
[21]“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord,
Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven,
but he who does the will of My Father in
heaven.
[22]Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord,
Lord, have we not prophesied in Your
name, cast out demons in Your name, and
done many wonders in Your name?’
[23]And then I will declare to them, ‘I never
knew you; depart from Me, you who
practice lawlessness!’ Build on the Rock
[24]“Therefore whoever hears these 54
sayings of Mine, and does them, I will
liken him to a wise man who built his
house on the rock:
55
[16]And without controversy great is the
mystery of godliness: God was
manifested in the flesh, Justified in the
Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among
the Gentiles, Believed on in the world,
Received up in glory.

BISHOPS AND DEACONS
1 Timothy 3:1-16
[1]This is a faithful saying: If a man
desires the position of a bishop, he
desires a good work.
[2]A bishop then must be blameless, the
husband of one wife, temperate, sober
minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able
to teach;
[3]not given to wine, not violent, not
greedy for money, but gentle, not
quarrelsome, not covetous;
[4]one who rules his own house well,
having his children in submission with all
reverence
[5](for if a man does not know how to rule
his own house, how will he take care of
the church of God?);
[6]not a novice, lest being puffed up with
pride he fall into the same condemnation
as the devil.
[7]Moreover he must have a good
testimony among those who are outside,
lest he fall into reproach and the snare of
the devil. Qualifications of Deacons
