Lesson Plan
Unit Title: Introduction to Robotics
Lesson 1: Future Robots

Suggested Time Allotment: 1 hr.

Suggested Number of Session: 1

I. OBJECTIVES

This module will define industrial robots and show its revolutions.

Specific Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the pupils are expected to:

1. define industrial revolution;

2. identify the phases of industrial revolution; and
3. classify the different future robots.

NGSS Standards: The learners will acquire the following standards:

✔ Evaluating Information
Ask questions, make observations, and gather information about a situation people want to
change to define a simple problem that can be solved through the development of a new or
improved object or tool.
✔ Data Analyzing
Analyze data from tests of two objects designed to solve the same problem to compare the
strengths and weaknesses of how each performs.

ISTE Standards: The learners will acquire the following standards:

✔ Empowered Learner
Students leverage technology to take an active role in choosing, achieving, and demonstrating
competency in their learning goals, informed by the learning sciences.
✔ Digital Citizen
Students recognize the rights, responsibilities and opportunities of living, learning and
working in an interconnected digital world, and they act and model in ways that are safe,
legal and ethical.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Content/Topic: Future Robots

Concepts:

i. Robot is a machine designed to execute one or more tasks automatically with speed and
precision.
ii. Industrial Revolution is a transition to new manufacturing processes. Things being made by
hand shifted to using machines in larger-scale factories.
III. LEARNING RESOURCES

Materials/Equipment:

i. PowerPoint presentation
ii. Computer

IV. PROCEDURES

ELICIT

The teacher will ask the students the following

questions:

1. Are you familiar with robots?

A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting 2. How can we say that a thing is considered
the new lesson as a robot?

Show pictures of known Robots in the movies,

cartoons, or anime such as Android 18 from
Dragon Ball Z and get the ideas of the students on
how they know these materials.

ENGAGE
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson
The teacher will present the objectives for the
day.

The teacher will ask three (3) volunteers from the

C. Presenting examples/instances of the class to act like a robot.
new lesson
Let them show scenarios like how a robot will
respond to the instructions and the like.

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing EXPLORE

new skills #1
The teacher will show the evolution of robots and
ask the students the following:

E. Discussing new concepts and practicing 1. How do these materials move?

new skills #2 2. What are the uses of the material?
3. What do you think is the reason why
these materials are created?

EXPLAIN

In your own words:

F. Developing mastery (leads to Formative
Assessment 3) 1. What is a robot?
2. What is the industrial revolution?
3. Where did the idea of robots come from?

G. Finding practical applications of ELABORATE

concepts and skills in daily living
The students will create their own robot and
H. Making generalizations and abstractions explain how it will work. They can also elaborate
about the lesson what inspires them to create that type of robot.

EVALUATE
I. Evaluating learning
Students will answer activities and assessment.

EXTEND
J. Additional activities for application or (Group Work) Research for the major
remediation breakthroughs of robots in the world. Share it in
the class.

VI. ANSWER KEY

Classify the robots in each item. Write ER for Educational Robot, HR for Home Robot, SR for Security
Robot, and HCR for Health Care Robot on the space provided for each number.

1. ER

2. HR

3. HCR

4. HR

5. HCR

6. ER

7. SR

8. SR

Fill-in the concept map below by writing what is being asked.

Meaning: a transition to new manufacturing processes, things being made by hand shifted to using
machines in larger-scale factories.

• Industrial Revolution - Meaning: is a transition to new manufacturing processes

1. Second Industrial Revolution

2. Third Industrial Revolution

3. Fourth Industrial Revolution

4. Steam Power - Describe: In this revolution, they used steam powered engines

5. Age of Science and Mass Production- Describe:It was a period of growth for pre-existing industries and expansion
of new ones such as the steel, oil, and electrical companies.

• Digital Age - Describe: the digital revolution, things that used to be analog moved to digital technologies – like an old
television

6. Cyber Physical Systems - Describe: the fusion of the advances in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, the Internet of
Things (IoT).
