APPLICATION GUIDELINES

A. All applicants to the college are


required to take the following:
1. Music Theory Exam
2. Solfege Exam
3. Audition and Interview

B. Freshmen who have passed the UPCAT


are still required to take and pass the
Music Theory Exam, the Solfege Exam,
and the Audition and Interview.

C. A passing score in the TOEFL is


required of all foreign applicants whose
native language is not English or who do
not come from schools where the medium
of instruction is English.

CALENDAR

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS

Associate in Arts (Music) or AA


(Music) is a 2-year program of study with
the following areas of concentration:
Composition, Conducting (Band or
Choral), Dance, Music Education,
Musicology, Music Performance (Voice), or
Music Performance (Instruments: Asian
Instruments, Percussion, Piano, Strings,
or Winds). Students admitted to this
program may proceed to the BM program
upon completion of the requirements of
the AA (Music) program and passing the
audition of the BM program.

Bachelor of Music or BM is a 4-year


course of study with a wide coverage
providing a well-rounded preparation for a
career in music. Major areas include
Composition, Conducting (Band, Choral,
or Orchestral), Dance, Instruments
(Percussion, Strings, or Winds), Music
Education, Musicology, Piano, and Voice.

Application to BM degree is open to the


following applicants only:

1. Grade 12 students/graduates who passed


the UPCAT
2. Shiftees or transferees from UP
constituent universities who are enrolled
in a bachelor’s degree and have earned a
minimum of 30 academic units and a
GWA of at least 2.5
3. transferees from non-UP
colleges/universities who have earned a
minimum of 33 academic units and a
GWA of at least 2.0
4. Bachelor’s degree holders (Note: BM is
the only program allowed for bachelor’s
degree holders.)

Applicants who don’t meet any of the


above criteria may apply to the AA (Music)
program only.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

1. Accomplish and submit the online


application form. This link will only be
open from April 1 to May 31, 2024.

2. Wait for your Test Permit and UVLE


username and password to be emailed to
you on or before May 8 (for applicants
who submitted the online form in April) or
June 5 (for applicants who submitted the
online form in May). Be ready to present
the Test Permit to the examiner during
the Music Theory and Solfege exams.

3. Take the practice test for Music Theory


Exam on Friday, June 14. (This is optional
but highly recommended.)

4. Take the actual Music Theory Exam and


Solfege Exams on Saturday, June 15.

5. Check the Music Theory and Solfege


Exams results to be posted on the college
admission webpage

6. Comply with the audition requirements


of the department you are applying in.

7. Check the audition results to be posted


on the college admission webpage

l at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, July 3.

8. If you are admitted, the Office of the


College Secretary will email you the list of
University Admission Requirements.
Submit your admission requirements on
or before the deadline. (Deadline to be
announced)

9. Newly admitted students will be


required to take a Psycho-Social Test.
