Project 2: Automated Palletizing System for Packaged Goods Objective:

Automate a palletizing system where packaged goods are stacked onto pallets using pneumatic grippers and lifters,
controlled by PLC programming.
Process Steps:
1. Pick-and-Place Station:
• A pneumatic gripper picks packaged goods from the conveyor.
• A pneumatic arm moves the goods to a pallet.
2. Stacking Mechanism:
• Pneumatic lifters adjust the pallet height as layers of goods are added.
• A timer ensures proper alignment and stacking.
3. Completed Pallet Removal:
• Once a pallet is full (based on a counter), it is moved to the shipping area by a pneumatic pusher.
Automation Steps:
1. Step 1: Pneumatic Design Using FluidSim
• Design the pneumatic components for the gripper, arm, and pallet lifters.
• Include sensors to detect goods and monitor pallet height.
2. Step 2: PLC Ladder Programming
• Create a ladder diagram to control the pick-and-place operations, stacking logic, and pallet removal.
• Use counters for tracking goods per pallet and timers for precise movement.
3. Step 3: System Integration
• Combine the pneumatic system with the PLC logic for fully automated stacking.
• Ensure seamless operation with accurate positioning and pallet tracking.
Deliverables:
1. FluidSim Pneumatic Design:
• Detailed schematics with explanations.

2. PLC Ladder Diagram:

• Functional logic with timers and counters.
3. Integrated System Performance:
° Evidence of the system working (e.g., video or simulation).
4. Comprehensive Report:
Problem statement, design, procedure, challenges, results, and conclusions (minimum 3000 words).
Evaluation Criteria:
1. Design Innovation: Creativity and practicality in the pneumatic and PLC design.
2. Automation Logic: Proper use of counters, timers, and sensor inputs for precise control.
3. Integration: Seamless synchronization of pneumatic and PLC systems.
4. Report Quality: Clarity, depth, and completeness of the final report.
5. Performance: Reliability and accuracy of the automated process.
