Warning: The procedural error most often made when using the instrument is not completely inserting the
cuvette into the measuring channel (insert over the pressure point!).
This error causes the status „unstable“ to appear in the display. This is due to the fact that the ball does not
rotate in a stable manner due to the cuvette which is wrongly positioned.

1. Test: All dots are on - all of the dots must be displayed with the same intensity.
no dots should be missing
2. Test: Display blinks - synchronous blinking when more than one display is present
3. Test: Define channel - each display must blink and display its channel number.

Observe the light source in the measuring channel during this test.
The following preconditions should be met:
Position --ON-- The channels must react to disturbances with a visual change in the display
intensity. Use an object to insert into the measuring block. The object should
be something that will either partly block or completely block the light path.
Position --OFF-- The procedure is the same as by „ON,“ but there should be no visual reaction
to disturbances.
If the display freezes, the test can be interrupted using an object and inserting it into channel one.
Press RESET. This ends the test and returns the system to the CHECK menu.

DC TESTS Explanation:
DC 4, 6, 8, A are tests for controlling the stability and the offset of the AC amplifier: they are checked at CHM
1 to CHM 4 (refer to the TMS wiring diagram).
DC 5, 7, 9, B are all tests for controlling the optical light controller: they are checked at CHC 1 to CHC 4. The
value 127 must always be displayed here (cuvette with water). If this value is not reached, refer to „Adjusting.“
The display shows a deviation in the measuring block of -0.078°C and a heating performance of 3.8 W for the
TRT2.

The program is transmitted over COM0. The TRT, which should receive the program, must be set to the
RECEIVE mode in order to receive any transmissions. A special cable is required for transmitting data.

The corresponding calibration curve is sent over COM0. The TRT, which should receive the calibration curve,
must be set to the RECEIVE mode in order to receive any transmissions. A special cable is required for
transmitting data.

A program, which is located in memory, is overwritten and is, therefore, no longer available.
If the key is pressed for less than one second or another key is pressed,
then this function is aborted and the instrument returns to the main menu.
3. Activate the receiving instrument. In order to do so, press the RESET key.
The display should change from RECEIVE to ? sure ?.
Keep the RESET key pressed until -ACTIVE- blinks in the display.
The instrument is now ready to receive.

Here are the messages which appear upon switching the instrument on:
LOAD ROM The system displays that the program version is being load from the
program memory’s ROM.
MEMCLEAR This message only appears when the system has been turned on
for the first time, or the RAM has been temporarily removed from
its socket. In this case, the system automatically saves the factory
settings in memory. In addition, the running time, number of
measurements, number of fail measurements and number of times
the instrument has been turned on are reset to zero.
PRG FAIL A check-sum error has appeared in the program version located in
the program memory. The boot program then loads the program
version from ROM into the program memory. The system stops
and can only be reactivated by switching the instrument off and
then on again.
PWR FAIL This message displays that the supply voltage is either too low or
has collapsed (U<8V am Siebelko). In this case, the system ceases
all activity. The system does a total restart after about one second.

TOO DARK This error can appear after pressing the RESET key in order to
reset the channels in preparation for measurement. The instrument
runs an internal optical adjustment, and if the sample is too dark
or the measuring channel is dirty, not enough light is let through,
and the error appears.
TIMEOUT The maximum measuring time has been reached ( 599 seconds ).
Coagulation was not detected.
NO CLOT The measuring process was interrupted with the RESET key.
By pressing the key again, the adjusting procedure -ADJUST-
is activated

Adjustments:
Adjustments are only needed to be made on the amplifiers and temperature regulator.
Amplifier:
There are two variations regarding the amplifier adjustment.
- Adjustment using the group specific LED’s. These have variable voltage values = „new method.“

Service Manual Thrombotimer TRT 1/2/4
Edition: Januar 2011 Version: 1.3
Refer to the listing to see which instruments require the group specific setting:
* The groups of the LED intensities are marked on the measuring block PCB’s “TE” and “TR” (for 1 and 2
channel instruments, or the “TE4” PCB (for the Thrombotimer 4).
For Thrombotimer 1 and Thrombotimer 2: a 20 on the PCB means “Group 20 LED”
For Thrombotimer 4: LG21 means LED Group 21
**The values of the upper and lower limits are in mV.
Tip: The adjusted temperature almost never deviates from its adjusted setting. The reason for the change in
temperature should, therefore, be carefully examined.

calibration curves, etc. (battery life: approx. 10 years)
INSTRUMENT MAINTENANCE
Regular instrument maintenance is not necessary. This is due to the fact that there are probably no parts that
have a wear and tear time of between two and five years. Dusting the instrument off or cleaning the surface of
the instrument is acceptable.
