Instrumentation and Control Engineering

and related courses

OVERVIEW:

The Basic Civil Engineering course offers a comprehensive introduction to the diverse
field of civil engineering. It covers the foundational principles and branches of civil
engineering, including the roles and impact of civil engineers. Students gain
proficiency in units of measurement and unit conversions. The course extensively
explores various construction materials, such as cement, steel, concrete, and timber,
with a focus on their types, properties, and applications. Building construction and
services are discussed, including building types, components, and functions, as well
as load considerations and brick bonds. The course further delves into surveying and
levelling techniques, including linear and angular measurements, modern surveying
tools, and contour mapping. Basic soil mechanics and pavement engineering concepts
are introduced, encompassing soil types, classifications, and engineering properties,
as well as pavement types and materials. Advancements in civil engineering are
explored, touching on smart cities, waste management, transportation systems, water
harvesting, green building, riverfront development, heritage conservation, and
earthquake-resistant structures. This course provides a solid foundation for aspiring
civil engineers and equips them with essential knowledge and skills to contribute to
the construction and infrastructure development field.
