EROSION CONTROL LOGS


Erosion control logs for restraining the flow of runoff and sediment shall be installed at locations
noted in the plans and determined by the Engineer during construction.
The Contractor shall provide certification that the erosion control logs do not contain noxious
weed seeds. Erosion Control Logs must be selected from the TxDOT Erosion Control
Approved Products or Sediment Control Approved Products lists.

PERMANENT SEEDING

The areas to be seeded comprise all newly graded areas within the project limits except for top
of aggregate base course or subballast.

All permanent seed shall be planted in the topsoil at a depth of ¼” to ½”.

All seed broadcast must be raked or dragged in (incorporated) within the top ¼” to ½” of topsoil
when possible. This requirement may be waived by the Engineer during construction when
raking or dragging is deemed not feasible by conventional methods.

Seeding shall conform to Item 164 of the TxDOT Standard Specifications. Seed must meet the
requirements of the Texas Seed Law. Seed Mix will be provided following Geotechnical Survey
completion.

MULCHING (GRASS HAY OR STRAW)

Following permanent seeding, a mulch consisting of grass hay or straw shall be blown on at
the rate of 2.5 tons per acre and punched in on slopes 3:1 and flatter and on 2:1 slopes
where equipment can be operated without rutting the slope due to slippage.
