1 ELECTRICAL

The objective of this part of document is to establish general requirements and

characteristics for all electrical equipment provided on this project.

The facilities include electrical equipment including all distribution, control and
other related systems, such as lighting, grounding.

1.1 Design of Power System

The design, performance, testing and inspection for equipment covered by this
project will comply with relevant recommendations, established by the
International Electro technical Commission (IEC).

 Standard equipment and extensible.

 Reliable and safe for staff.

 Long service life with minimal maintenance.

 Safety of persons, goods and processes.

 Continuity of service, taking into accounts the internal failures and external
failures.

 Simplicity of operation, whether performed by trained personnel or

automated.

 Flexibility of installation allows great flexibility of operation and the

possibility of future extensions.

1.2 Design Criteria

In accordance with single line diagram, a general supply of electricity, MV 5.5 KV

is planned for this station.

The main power distribution plant will be from two electric generators 5.5 KV.

1.3 Power distribution

1.3.1 5, 5 KV Distribution

5.5kV system distribution consists of one 5.5kV switchboards, energized by

generators (4MVA 5.5kV) and connected in double ended configuration. The
incomings are NC and the bus-tie is NO. The 5.5kV switchboard feeds 5.5 /
0.41kV transformers TRA-002A/B for LV auxiliaries.

1.3.2 400V System

The 400V switchboard is supplied by 630KVA 0.41kV rated transformers TRA-

002A/B and by Emergency Diesel Generator and feed LV motors, static loads and
LV auxiliaries. For the switchboard an emergency incomer from above mentioned
Emergency Diesel Generator is foreseen. The 5.5/0.41kV transformers and the
Emergency Diesel Generator star points are grounded on the PE bus bar of the
PMCC.

The 400V switchboard is configured three sections of bus bars (A, B and E), each
with an incoming circuit breaker, and with interconnecting bus-ties. The bus bars
E shall be used for essential loads. The incoming from transformers TRA-002A/B
is NC and the incomer from Emergency Diesel Generator is NO.

In the normal operating, one bus ties is NC .and the other is NO (depending the
choice of operating mode)

In case of break down of one transformer, the other will supply all the three bus
bars (The two bus ties are NC)

In case of loss of normal power (from the two transformers), the two bus ties will
open and the Emergency Diesel Generator will supply the “E” bus bar only
(emergency bus bar).

1.4 Characteristic of electrical equipment

1.4.1 5,5 KV DIESEL POWER GENERATOR:

Two diesel generator 4 MVA will be installed in this project. The main
characteristics of generators are:
 Type: Compact, open for indoor
 Power: 4 MVA (regime continues)
 Overload: 10% for one hour twelve
 Frequency: 50 Hz
 Speed: 1500t/mn (auto regulated)
 Voltage: 5,5KV vacuum
 Mode: Three phase
 Cos φ: 0,8
 Excitation: self-excited
 Equipped with control panel

1.4.2 5, 5 KV Switchgear

The 5, 5 KV switchgear is intelligent type. The MV switchgear is with cell type

modular, under metal casings and comprising:
*2 Incoming feeder 1250 A to SF6 circuit breaker withdrawable version
*1 circuit breaker coupling
*2 outgoing feeder 630 A to SF6 circuit breaker withdrawable version
*Cell TP measurement.
*Two half-bus bars are made of copper or aluminium, have a maximum
temperature rise of 65 ° C and withstand short circuit currents without
permanent deformation.

1.4.3 Power transformer

Two three phase transformers hermitical solid type, naturally cooled ONAN, for
indoor installation will be installed in this project. The conditions of service will
be compliant CEI354,
The oil used should be compliant HN27-S-02, NF C27 - 101 and IEC 296.
The transformers will be equipped with the following accessories:
- A control switch off ± 2x2, 5%
- DGPT2
- Display of the level of dielectric,
- Thermometer,
- Plug-HT terminals,
- Cover BT
- Acquisition of land
- Nameplates,
- Any other useful adjunct filling, emptying, etc.....

The electrical characteristic are:

 Puissance: 630 KVA.

 Tension primaire : 5,5 KV.

 Tension secondaire : 0,4KV.

 Fréquence: 50 Hz.
 Temp. Ambiante maximale: 50°C

 Couplage: Dyn11.

 Tension de court-circuit: 5%.

1.4.4 LV EMERGENCY DIESEL GENERATOR:

Essential service generator (Emergency Diesel Generator – EDG) shall be diesel

driven and shall be of the totally enclosed, fan ventilated enclosure type (IC411 to
IEC 60034-6).

The EDG shall have independent means of starting (e.g. batteries).

In the event of loss of normal power, the EDG shall start automatically to provide
power supplies to consumers designated as Essential Loads.

The EDG shall be capable of starting from a black start condition and shall be
provided with routine facilities to simulate and test auto-start.

During such test, the generators shall run at load, synchronized with the normal
main supply.

When the normal supply is restored, a temporary parallel through EDG and the
normal main supply will be foreseen.

Automatic transfer schemes shall be provided at the 30kV, 5.5kV and 0.4kV
switchgear in order to switch loads to an alternative feeder in case of failure, or
(only for 0.4kV switchgear) to switch on Emergency Diesel Generator.

The diesel generator will be main characteristics:

 Type: Compact, open for indoor

 Power: 160 KVA (regime continues)

 Overload: 10% for one hour twelve

 Frequency: 50 Hz

 Speed: 1500t/mn (auto regulated)

 Voltage: 400V/230 V vacuum
