SIMPLE SENTENCE
Contains a subject and a
verb, a complete thought.

Ex: I ate two doughnuts.

COMPOUND SENTENCEs
This sentence has two
independent clauses joined by
a coordinating conjunction.

Ex: Micah watched for the Uber,


but it was running behind!

Complex sentence
Made up of an independent
clause and one or more
dependent clauses.

Ex: While Dwight was driving to


work, he realized he forgot to water
his beets.

COMPOUND-COMPLEX SENTENCES
Made up of two or more
coordinate independent clauses
and one or more dependent
clauses.

Ex: When Joshua jogged through


the park, he discovered a new
path, but he ran the old familiar one
instead.
