The test had 65 questions in all spread over three sections.

Though the sections were not clearly

defined in the instructions (as in CAT 2009), one was expected to identify the sections and
distribute time accordingly. This was important as the VERBAL section carried more questions
and hence more weight in the total marks.

An analysis of the three sections:

QUA NTITATIVE (Q.1 – Q.20)

This section of the test was of moderate level of difficulty. The section consisted of:

§ 4 questions on Number System.

§ 6 questions on Algebra.
§ 3 questions on Arithmetic.
§ 3 questions on Modern Math (Logic Based).
§ 4 questions on Geometry.

The section covered all the topics as shown above. The distribution of questions was almost
uniform. Almost all the questions were based on fundamentals and involved few calculations.
There were a few questions (E.g. Q. 2, 5, 7, 9 etc.) that could have been solved easily using logic
only.

There were no exceptionally tough questions in this section and the questions on Numbers and
Geometry were relatively easy (See the table given below).

VERBAL (Q.21 - Q.45)

The VA section of the test had an easy to moderate level of difficulty. The section consisted
of:

§ 3 RC Passages (Total 12 questions).

§ 3 questions on Paragraph Jumbles.
§ 3 questions on Para Completion.
§ 3 questions on Fill in the Blanks.
§ 2 questions on Text Summaries.
§ 2 questions on Sentence Correction (Grammar).

The similar question types were not clubbed together in the section. Reading comprehension
passages were easier than ave rage whereas some of the EU questions were a little tricky. The
passages should have been attempted as trying to score only through the EU section would have
been difficult.

The various questions are now described in detail:

(Art, Dunnet) of easy and tough questions. Out of the three
RC passages should have been attempted at
the end.

29,35 Text Summaries Moderate Needed some amount of thought but should
have been attempted

28,39,44 Para Completion Moderate- 39 and 44 were easy. 28 was fairly difficult.
Tough
27,36 Sentence Correction Moderate Questions on parallelism and modifiers.
LOGIC & DATA INTERPRETATION (Q.46 – Q.65)

This section of the test had an easy to moderate level of difficulty. The section consisted of:

§ 2 (table based and instructions based) Numerical- Analytical Reasoning sets (3

questions in each set).
§ 3 individual questions on Logical Reasoning.
§ 3 questions on Data Sufficiency.
§ 2 sets on Logical Reasoning (3 + 2 = 5 questions).
§ 1 Graph based Data Interpretation set (3 questions).

A careful selection of questions in this section was very important. One or two tougher sets were
there which could have been avoided or solved later (See the table given below).

One could avoid attempting individual LR/DS questions first as they involved more reading and
analysis per question as compared to the sets. The options given in most questions were close.
Some of the options were designed to induce incorrect answers and so it was important to avoid
silly mistakes. The problem sets in this section can be classified as:
