2. Present Continuous vs. Present Simple tense

We use the Present Simple tense to refer to a routine, regular action in the present time.

I eat lunch at 1 PM every day.

We use the Present Continuous to refer to an action happening right now, at this moment.

I'm eating lunch now. It's delicious.

3. Present Continuous: Structure


We use the auxiliary To Be In this tense.

Question form: Am + I + verb + ing?


Affirmative: I + am + verb + ing.
Am I eating? Yes, I am eating.

Question form: Are + you / we / they + verb + ing…?


Affirmative: You / We / They + are + verb + ing
Are you working? Yes, I’m working.

Question form: Is + he / she / it + verb + ing…?


Affirmative: He / she / it + verb + ing.
Is he sleeping? Yes, he’s sleeping.

4. Present Simple form: Structure


We use the auxiliary Do / Does in the question and negative forms of this tense.

Question form: Do + I / you / we / they + verb?


Affirmative: I / You / We/ They + verb
Do they work on Sundays? Yes, they work on Sundays.
