Being a teenager

Everyone says that your schooldays are the best days of your life. When you are a
teenager, you certainly don’t believe that they might be. Homework, boring lessons,
exams, more homework, no time to do what you want ... the list goes on and on.

The teenage years can be very difficult for many young people as they move from
childhood to adulthood. They think they are old enough to make their own decisions.
They think they know better than their parents what they should be allowed to do. They
want to have independence. Why should they always tell their parents where they are
going and who they are with?

Parents have been teenagers too of course but sometimes it seems they have forgotten
what it’s like to want to stay out late, to go on holiday with friends, to have parties
without any adults being around. They often say that things were different when they
