TO BE COVERED
• Understanding Sets & Venn Diagrams
• 2 Set Venn Diagram Problems
• Set 1
Sets
o A set is a collection of well defined objects called elements.
o Commonly used mathematical sets
N : the set of all natural numbers
Z : the set of all integers
Q : the set of all rational numbers
R : the set of real numbers
Z+ : the set of positive integers
Q+ : the set of positive rational numbers, and
R+ : the set of positive real numbers.
Venn Diagrams
o A Venn Diagram is a representation of the relationship between sets.

department. Out of the total 1300 candidates that interviewed, 850 were selected for
Marketing and 600 were selected for HR. However, 100 candidates were rejected for either
roles. A candidate can be selected for multiple departments.
Q1. How many candidates were selected for more than one role?
SET 1
A. 250 B. 150 C. 350 D. 200
Q2. How many candidates were selected for the HR role but not for the Marketing role?
A. 100 B. 500 C. 600 D. 350
Q3. How many candidates were rejected from only one role?
[Type in the closest integer]
Q4. How many candidates were rejected from at least one role?
[Type in the closest integer]
Q5. The candidates who got rejected for the Marketing role is what percentage of the total
candidates who got rejected for the HR role?
[Type in the closest integer]
