The VSC functions integrated inside the CIDS DIRs are:

The DIR calculates and transmits signals to the Flight Attendant Panel
(FAP) and optionally to the waste service panel to indicate the waste tank
level and to report system defects. The DEU B transmits system defects
to the DIR through the middle line data bus. The DIR memorizes the
defect signals and send them to the Centralized Fault Display System
(CFDS) for ground maintenance and inspection. The DEU B is also
connected to RS 232-C interface unit and used in Workshop.

NOTE: Each toilet assembly has a separate DEU B.
