LESSON PLAN FORM

Age & Level Age 13 – 15, Level A2 Date 28th July, 2024

Lesson Grammar – Be Going To Time 30 Minutes

After this lesson, students will be able to:

- Remember 3 new words with TPR, repeat with correct


Outcome
pronunciation.
- Understand and use the structure "be going to" to express future
intentions and plans.
- Form sentences using "be going to" correctly.

Flow I. WARM-UP: (5 minutes)


Alphabet Race. ( Letters: A, L, D)
1. Divide into 2 groups. (30 seconds)
2. Introduction + ICQ. (1 minute)
Introduction: “Do you know the alphabet?

So now I will give you 1 letter. You will run and start to write
one word on the board, which starts with that letter. After that,
you give the marker to your teammate and that person will
continue to write a different word. After 1 minute, which team
has a longer list of words will be the winner!”

3. Each person will come to the board and write one word that
starts with a specific letter the teacher will give the student.
(Two times to play – 2 minutes)
4. Then, give the markers to the teammate. After 1 minute, the
team with the longest list of words will win.
(Check the answer – the team wins)
Check ICQ:
“How many people come to the board? One or Two”
“Will you write a word or a sentence?
“When you finish your answer, what should you do? Will you
throw the marker” yes or no? Should you give the marker to your
teammates? Yes or no?
“ How much time do we have for one time to play? One or Two”

II. LEAD IN. (1 minute)

Ask the student:

"What is your plan for next weekend?" to introduce the


concept of future plans.
- Student says: “ I will play video game,…..”. After that, the
teacher says: “Oke, your answer is correct, but today I will
show you another structure, it’s different and more correct
to talk about the near future. I will show you this structure
later in the lesson”
III. TPR AND VOCABULARY ACTIVITY: (12 minutes)

TPR (8 minutes)
1. Ask students to stand up. (30s)
2. Show 3 words: aquarium, enclosure, reptile house.
3. For each word: the teacher does the action, teaches
pronunciation, and introduces meaning.
4. Students repeat and copy the teacher's actions. The teacher
checks the pronunciation of each student. (4 minutes)
5. Then, the teacher stops saying the word, the students watch the
teacher's action and then do the action while saying the word
aloud. (1 minute)
6. Ask a student to do the action for the class to say the word and
do the action. (1 minute)
7. Ask students to re-read the words and do the actions, erasing
words and pictures so that they can remind themselves.
(1 minute)

Vocabulary Activity (4 minutes)


(Hidden Pictures)

1. Introduction: (1 minute)

I will show you something like this and then I click on the squares.

So if you can guess the hidden pictures, ring the bell at any time,
and guess what word it is.

If your answer is correct, you will receive 1 flower.

Give an example.

2. Divide group: (1 minute)


3. Play & Check the answer (2 minutes)

Teacher: “ Did you remember my questions before this lesson


today!”

“What is your plan for next weekend?”

“Use “Be going to” in the student’s answer” and show the
usage”

GRAMMAR (12 minutes)

1. PRESENTATION: INTRODUCING “TO BE GOING TO”


(3 minutes)
A. Give Usage & Explanation.
- “We can use “be going to” to talk about plans or
intentions. We have already decided what to do.”
- Show the structure: (S + (AM / IS / ARE) GOING TO +
V+ O.)
B. Show the negative structure and short question structures.

ACTIVITY 1 (3 minutes)

1. Divide group.
2. Show the question and explain the rule.
Introduction: “This is an incomplete sentence. But you need to
ring the bell to choose the correct answer. Remember to use the
structure “Be going to”. If your answer is correct, you will get 1
flower.”
Check ICQ:
“Are you running to the board? Yes or No”
“When you want to answer, will you ring the bell? Yes or No”
“ How many flowers if you get the correct answer? One or Two”
3. Play
ACTIVITY 2 (3 minutes)

1. Show the question and explain the rule.


Introduction: “In this exercise, It’s more difficult. I will give you
the verb. I need you to change the verb to follow the structure “Be
going to” but now you don’t need to ring the bell. You will write
your answer on the small board. After 30 seconds, I will check
your answer. If your answer is correct, your team will get 1
flower.
Check ICQ:
“ You will change the verb follow the structure “ Be going to”
Yes or No”
“When you want to answer, will you ring the bell? Yes or No”
“ What will you do? Write down on a small board or big board”
“How much time do you have in this exercise?” 1 minute or 30
seconds”
“ How many flowers if you get the correct answer? One or Two”

ACTIVITY 3 (5 minutes)

Introduction: “In this activity, I need you to talk with your teammate,
and use the short question “Be going to”. It can help you understand
the structure better.

1. Divide groups (Student A & Student B) (30 seconds)


2. Student A will write the action in Table 1. (1 minute)
Student B will write the action in Table 2.
3. Student A will guess and ask a short question structure “Be going
to” with Student B. After that, Student A will write the
information about Student B in Table 2, and vice versa.
4. 2 minutes to exchange of information.
(3 minute)

TEACHER: “Invite one student (Quynh) to make an example. Ask the


short question to students and show them how to write down the
information about the student (Quynh). The student needs to answer full
a sentence.

CHECK ICQ: “What should we do in this exercise? Write or Speak?”

“After We say Yes, I am or No, I am not and then We stop” Yes or No”

“What should we do, we will answer the full sentence” Yes or No”

“And then, What we will do next?” “We will….yeah that right…Write


the information in the worksheet”

“How much time in this activity” 2 or 1”


- 3 boards & 3 marker
- Handouts/worksheets with fill-in-the-blanks exercises.
Material - 2 bells
checklist - Gift for the winner.
- Flowers
