SUBJECT : MATHEMATICS Maximum Marks : 80
General Instructions:
1. This Question Paper has 5 Sections A, B, C, D, and E.
2. Section A has 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) carrying 1 mark each.
3. Section B has 5 Short Answer-I (SA-I) type questions carrying 2 marks each.
4. Section C has 6 Short Answer-II (SA-II) type questions carrying 3 marks each.
5. Section D has 4 Long Answer (LA) type questions carrying 5 marks each.
6. Section E has 3 Case Based/passage based (4 marks each) with sub-parts of the values of 1, 1
and 2 marks each respectively.

between the zeroes and the coefficient of the polynomial.

Solve the following equation using by quadratic formula: X2 + 5x + 5 = 0.

26.If the 10th term of an A.P. is 52 and the 17th term is 20 more than the 13th term,
find A.P
27. In a circle of radius 7cm, an arc subtends n angle of 600 at its centre. Find the area of
corresponding minor segment.(use √ 3 = 1.73
OR
Find the area of quadrant of a circle of diameter 28cm. Also find the length of the corresponding
arc of sector.
28.Ravi, Seema, and Raju start preparing cards for all the people in an old age homeat 10 am. They
complete one card in 20, 16 and 10 minutes. If all of them started together at the same time, At
what time will they start preparing a new card together?
29.All the black face cards are removed from a pack of 52 playing cards. The remaining cards are
well shuffled and then a card is drawn at random. Find the probability of getting (i) face card (ii) red
card (iii) black card.
OR
Two coins are tossed simultaneously. What is the probability of getting
(i) At least one head? (ii) At most one tail? (iii) A head and a tail?

32.The diagonal of a rectangular field is 60 metres more than the shorter side. If the longer side is
30 metres more than the shorter side, find the sides of the field.
OR
A train travels a distance of 480 km at a uniform speed. If the speed had been 8 km/h less, then it
would have taken 3 hours more to cover the same distance. We need to find the speed of the train.
33.Sides AB and AC and median AD of a triangle ABC are respectively
proportional to sides PQ and PR and median PM of another triangle PQR.
Show that ∆ ABC ~ ∆ PQR.
34.At a point A, 20 metres above the level of water in a lake, the angle of elevation of a cloud is
30°. The angle of depression of the reflection of the cloud in the lake, at A is 60°. Find the distance
of the cloud from A

The angles of depression of the top and bottom of a 12 m tall building, from the top of a
multistoreyed building are 30° and 60° respectively. Find the height of the multi-storeyed building.

35.Prove that tangents drawn to a circle from external point are equal.
(ii) PQ is a chord of length 8cm of a circle of radius 5cm.
The tangents at P and Q intersect at point T. Find the length of TP

CASE BASED QUESTIONS

36. An equation of degree 1 is called a Linear equation. The general form of a linear equation in 2
variables is ax + by + c = 0. The graph is a straight line .

(i) What is the solution of the above system of equations.

(ii) Write whether the system is consistent or not and give reason to support your statement

(iii) If (1, 2) is the solution of linear equations ax + y = 3 and 2x + by = 12,then find the values of a
and b .

37.Vaunt has been selected by his School to design logo for Sports Day T-shirts for students and
staff . The logo design is as given in the figure and he is working on the fonts and different colours
according to the theme. In given figure, a circle with centre O is inscribed in a ΔABC, such that it
touches the sides AB, BC and CA at points D, E and F respectively. The lengths of sides AB, BC and
CA are 12 cm, 8 cm and
10 cm respectively.

(i). Find the length of AD

(iv) If radius of the circle is 4cm, Find the area of ∆OAB

38. On a Sunday, your Parents took you to a fair. You could see lot of toys displayed, and you
wanted them to buy a RUBIK’s cube and strawberry ice-cream for you. Observe the figures and
answer the questions:-

1. Find the Total surface area and volume of the cube if its edge is 5cm.
2. Find the volume of ice cream in the hemispherical part if the radius of base is 7cm
3. Find the curved surface area of the cone if radius of base is 7cm and slant height is 10cm
