TEST 20 22 DEC 2024 CHAPTER 3,4,9
Q1. If there are two separate circles drawn apart from each other, then the maximum
number of common points they have : a. 0 b. 1 c. 2 d. 3
Q2. If AB = 12 cm, BC = 16 cm and AB is perpendicular to BC, then the radius of the
circle passing through the points A, B and C is: (a) 6 cm (b) 8 cm (c) 10 cm (d) 12
cm
Q3. If two circles intersect at two points, prove that their centres lie on the perpendicular bisector of the
common chord. ARUN GUPTA

Q3(i). A circular park of radius 20m is situated in a colony. Three boys Ankur, Syed and David are sitting at
equal distance on its boundary each having a toy telephone in his hands to talk each other. Find the length
of the string of each phone.
Q4. The sum of either pair of opposite angles of a cyclic quadrilateral is 180º
Q4(i).If the non-parallel sides of a trapezium are equal, prove that it is cyclic.
Q5. A chord of a circle is equal to the radius of the circle. Find the angle subtended by the chord at a point
on the minor arc and also at a point on the major arc.
Q6. AB is a diameter of the circle, CD is a chord equal to the radius of the circle. AC and BD when extended
intersect at a point E. Find∠ AEB.
Q7 The taxi fare in a city is as follows: For the first two kilometre, the fare is Rs 8 and for the subsequent
distance it is Rs 5 per km. Taking the distance covered as x km and total fare as Rs y, write a linear equation
for this information.
Q8 On his birthday, Manoj planned that this time he celebrates his birthday in a small orphanage centre.
He bought apples to give to children and adults working there. Manoj donated 2 apples to each children
and 3 apples to each adult working there along with Birthday cake. He distributed 60 total apples.
(a) How to represent the above situation in linear equations in two variables by taking the number of
children as ‘x’ and the number of adults as ‘y’? (i) 2x + y = 60 (iii) 2x + 3y = 60 (ii) 3x + 2y = 60 (iv) 3x +
y = 60
(b) If the number of children is 15, then find the number of adults? (i) 10 (iii) 15 (ii) 25 (iv) 20
(c) If the number of adults is 12, then find the number of children? (i) 12 (iii) 15 (ii) 14 (iv) 18
(d) Find the value of b, if x = 5,y = 0 is a solution of the equation 3x + 5y = b. (i) 12 (iii)15(ii)14(iv) 18
(e) Which is the standard form of linear equations in two variables: y – x = 5 ? (i) 1.y – 1.x – 5 = 0 (ii) 1.x
– 1.y + 5 = 0 (iii) 1.x + 0.y + 5 = 0 (iv) 1.x – 1.y – 5 = 0
Q9. Assertion: The abscissa of a point (5, 2) is 5.
Reason: The perpendicular distance of a point from y-axis is called its abscissa.
Q10. Assertion : The points (-1, 2) and (2,- 1) are at different positions in the coordinate plane.
Reason: Point (-1,2) lies in Il-quadrant and (2,- 1) lies in IV quadrant
Q11. Assertion : If the ordinate of a point is equal to its abscissa, then the point lies either in the first
quadrant or in the second quadrant. Reason : A point both of whose coordinates are negative will lie in
third quadrants
Q12. Assertion: x + y = 3 is the equation of a line passing through the origin.
Reason: y = 2x is the equation of a line passing through the origin
Q13. Assertion : The point (2, 2) is the solution of x + y = 4. Reason: Every point which satisfy the linear
equation is a solution of the equation
