Activity 7
INVISIBLE INKS

I. Objective: To know some of the commonly used invisible inks and the different methods of developing
them.

II. Materials:

1. Invisible inks: Lemon Juice, Milk, Sugar, Starch


2. Developer: Heat, Light, Water
3. Long Bond, Pencil

III. Procedure:

Using pointed rods as writing instrument, write the name of the particular invisible ink you are
using on different pieces of paper. Label the paper using pencil correspondingly. Allow the writing to
dry.

1. Developing by heat – Carefully heat the piece of papers containing writings using starch,
lemon juice, milk, sugar. Note of the colors of the writing produced.

2. Developing by light- Carefully lift the paper with writing using the above mentioned suspected
invisible inks. Note of the colors of the writing produced.

3. Developing by water- Carefully dip the paper with writing using the above mentioned
suspected invisible inks. Note of the colors of the writing produced.

4. Show your result by showing a photograph with you performing the developing procedure.

IV. Observation:
