Velocity changes from A To B in time t(uniform acceleration a) Final Velocity 1

v=BC
BC=BD+DC
v=BD+AO
v=BD+u
Slope of velocity time graph is equal to acceleration a.
a=BD/AD
a=(v-u)/t
v=u+at

ii)The distance travelled by the body is given by area of the space between
velocity time graph AB and time axis OC , which is equal to area of figure 1
OABC. Distance travelled=Area of figure OABC = Area of rectangle OADC
+ Area of triangle ABD =(OA x OC) + 1/2 x AD x BD) =(u x t) + (1/2 x t x at)
S = ut + 1/2 x at2

29 Angle of friction. The angle of friction may be defined as the angle which the 1.5
resultant of the limiting friction and the normal reaction makes with the
normal reaction.

∴ tanθ = 𝐵𝐶/𝑂𝐵= 𝑂𝐴/𝑂𝐵=𝑓𝑠𝑚𝑎𝑥/𝑅

But 𝑓𝑠𝑚𝑎𝑥/𝑅 = μs = Coefficient of static friction
∴ tan θ = μs
Thus the coefficient of static fiction is equal to the tangent of the angle of
friction.
Definition -angle of repose- Minimum angle of inclined plane with horizontal 1.5
so that a body placed on it just begin to slide down that is body is at verge of
motion but actually not moving.

Diagram

∴ tan θ = μs

30 (a)Using theorem of // axis

M.I. of sphere about tangent = (2/5)MR2 + MR2 1
M.I. = (7/5)MR2

(b) Using theorem of ppd. Axis M.I. of disc about an axis passing through its
center and ppd. To its plane is Ic = (¼)MR2 + (¼)MR2 = (½)MR2 2
According to theorem of // axis M.I. of disc about an axis passing through
edge and ppd. to its plane is = (½)MR2 + MR2 =(3/2)MR2
