MET 5.05 Worksheet
MET 5.05 Worksheet
Introduction:
Now that you’ve learned about how models help scientists understand real-world systems, you will
model the greenhouse effect through a lab activity. You will build your own model, record your
data and observations, and make a conclusion.
To help enhance your knowledge of the Greenhouse Effect, please visit this website for some
additional information… https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/features/GlobalWarming/page1.php
Problem: How does the greenhouse effect help determine the temperature on Earth?
Hypothesis:
Provide a possible solution or educated guess about what you think will happen in the
experiment. This should be written in an IF/THEN statement.
Materials:
If you needed to use alternative materials, make sure to include any changes as part of the
procedure.
● 2 thermometers
● Rubber band
● Tape
● Scissors
● Soil
Unable to gather these materials? Watch this lab video to collect your data instead.
*The video only provides the starting temperature & ending temperature, so you’ll leave
the other rows of the data table blank.
Procedure:
Variables:
Data and Observations: Record the temperature of covered and uncovered bottles every
minute for 15 minutes.
