Technical Specifications & requirements of 110 V 425Ah Lead Acid battery bank & their accessories &
other scope of work.
This part covers the technical specifications and requirements of the battery sets, their accessories and
scope of works related to installation, testing & commissioning at purchaser’s site.

1 Battery Sets
Design, Manufacturing, Pre-dispatch inspection, Guarantee & Supply of one set of battery,
Each battery set shall be of 110V lead Acid stationary battery consisting of 56 cells of Exide
Make Type YKP 35 or equivalent 425AH capacity at C-10 rate at 27 deg. Centigrade to an
end voltage of 1.85V per cell type high discharge performance with PLANTE positive plates,
pasted negative plates, all cell accessories & teak wood battery stand. The battery shall be
supplied in dry & uncharged condition. The cells shall conform to IS 1652 (1991) & also meet
all particulars of Guaranteed Technical Particulars as enclosed herewith.

1.14 Method of charging
a) Floating voltage :- 2.18 to 2.25V per cell
b) Starting / quick charging :- Through C.C. mode
c) Finishing charging :- Through C.C. mode
1.15 Guaranteed Technical Particulars :- Cells shall meet all the particulars of GTP
enclosed.
2 Details of Battery stand & Layout
2.1 Layout of the battery sets
Please see enclosed drawing for layout of proposed battery set, However the final
approval of the design of battery stand shall be obtained from the purchaser before
starting fabrication work.
2.2 Description of battery stand :- The battery stand shall be made up of good quality teak
wood and shall be provided with double coated black acid resistant paint. The battery
stand shall be complete with cell number plates, cell insulators & stand insulators. The
battery stand shall be get accommodated within the space as shown in the enclosed
drawing.
a) Number of racks per Battery Bank :- 1
b) Number of cells per rack :- 28 nos
c) Type of racks :- double row, double tier
d) Material of racks :- Teak wood
e) Racks to be provided with cell number plates & teak wood clamps for cable.
f) Insulator with 5% extra to be provided for cells and stands.
g) Drawing of battery stand shall be got approved from the purchaser before
fabrication.
3 Inter row / inter tier/ inter cell connectors. :- Lead Plated copper.
4 Electrolyte: - Quantity of electrolyte of 1.190 specific gravity at 27 deg. Centigrade &
conforming to IS 266 required for commissioning of one battery banks & 10% extra in non
returnable Jerry cans.
5 Standard accessories for maintenance of battery as per following:-
5.1. Syringe type hydrometer set complete for YKP type batteries. -5 Nos.
5.2. Digital multimeter -1 No.
5.3. Mercury in glass chemical thermometer- 3 Nos.
5.4 . Wall mounting teak wood holder for hydro meter and thermometer-1No.
5.5. Spanner set of 1 Nos
5.6. 10 oz syringe. 1No
5.7 . Plastic funnel 150 mm dia. 1No
5.8. Rubber siphon 12.7 mm dia and 2m lengh. 1No
5.9. Rubber apron 1 No

6 Pre-dispatch inspection
Pre-dispatch inspection shall be carried out as per IS 8320 and shall include following tests
on the sample cells.
6.1 Verification of markings.
6.2 Verification of dimensions.
6.3 Test of capacity.
6.4 Test for voltage during discharge.
6.5 AH & WH efficiency tests.
7 Installation, Testing & Commissioning
7.1 One battery set of 110V will be installed, tested & commissioned at
PREFRE Plant, BARC Tarapur
7.2 Installation & Testing work shall be completed within 30 days after receipt of material at
PREFRE Stores
7.3 No material & manpower will be provided by us for installation work.
7.4 Installation work involves shifting of cells and other material from our stores to
worksite placing of cells on the battery stand, installation of inter cell, inter row & inter tier
connectors, filling of electrolyte, charging ,discharging & recharging etc.
7.5 BARC will provide charging & discharging facility.
7.6 Initial charging & discharging of the battery cells shall be carried out by the supplier.
7.7 Testing & Commissioning at purchaser’s site :- Acceptance tests of the complete battery
bank shall be carried out at our site as per IS 8320 and shall include following tests.
a) Verification of terminals marking.
b) Verification of polarity.
c) Verification of dimensions.
d) Test for capacity.
e) Test for voltage during discharge.
f) Test for duty cycle
Battery shall be tested for the duty cycle curve as specified
Cell voltage during duty cycle shall be minimum 1.85V
Cell voltage characteristics during duty cycle shall be observed & furnished to the purchaser.
The battery shall deliver the rated capacity & shall meet the requirements of duty cycle as
per relevant IS before its acceptance
8 Documents to be supplied
a) Operating instruction manual.
b) Drawing of battery cells.
c) Guarantee certificate.
