What is Airside?
• The airside area includes all parts of an airport where
aircraft operations occur, restricted to authorized
personnel only. This includes runways, taxiways, aprons,
ramps, and baggage handling areas.
Why is it important?
• The airside area is essential for safe and efficient aircraft
movements. It’s where most aviation activity and
interactions occur, involving a range of high-risk processes
such as refueling, maintenance, boarding, and cargo
loading.
