 OVERVIEW
ETAP DataX represents a rich set of customizable ETAP interfaces used to bridge gaps between
ETAP and external software. The data exchange program works in three different levels:

• Level 1: Importing Data into an ETAP Project

• Level 2: One-Way Synchronization of Data
• Level 3: Two-Way Synchronization of Data

 EXCEL (FIXED & OPEN)
•Excel – Fixed Format command is used to transfer data from a MS Excel file with fixed format into an ETAP
project.

•Excel Open Format DataX command is used to import generic Microsoft Excel files with data arranged in columns
for synchronous motors, induction motors, lumped loads, static loads two-winding transformers, cables and
buses.

• Bi-directional Excel data exchange (Open Format)

• Map Excel worksheets to ETAP elements
• Synchronize data to ETAP projects
• Perform consistency checks during data exchange
• Substitute missing information with ETAP defaults & library data

This import utility allows the automatic conversion of projects created in PTW32 v6.0, v6.5 and v7.0, into ETAP.

Features:

•Import SKM project

•Preserve original One-Line Diagram layout during

conversion

•Automatically map (import) existing protective device

settings

•Direct Import of User Created coordinates (TCC) curves

into STAR

•Support for importing multiple One-Line drawings and

MCC's into ETAP's composite network

This import utility allows the automatic conversion of projects created in EasyPower v8.0 and v9.0, into ETAP.

curves into STAR

SmartPlant Electrical is a highly flexible tool that handles large amounts of electric power system data, such as
equipment data sheet templates, schedule templates, one-line diagrams, and customizable default libraries. The
ETAP - SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) interface is a tool for exchanging data between ETAP and SPEL.

ETAP GIS Map automatically generates electrical one-line diagrams with the corresponding geographical maps of
power generation, transmission, and distribution systems. Electrical system data is synchronized from GIS into
ETAP thereby maintaining the relationship between them.

Project Merge utility provides the capability to modify and expand an ETAP project simultaneously, and it
contains the tools necessary to quickly identify the changes and merge the updates for a multi-user project
management system.

 PSCAD & EMTP-RV
• ETAP – PSCAD interface provides the tool needed for the
engineers to easily exchange data from ETAP to PSCAD to
perform specialty studies such as switching transients,
insulation coordination, lightning surges, resonance and
ferro resonance, etc.

• ETAP – EMTP-RV interface provides greater analysis

capabilities for both platforms in the area of power system
transients; switching transients, insulation coordination,
lightning surges, etc.
