Business Objects Administration:

1. What is the BO services involved while scheduling a web intelligence report and which server
process the report?

Ans: Adaptive Job Server (Web Intelligence Job Server) and Web Intelligence Processing Server.
Web Intelligence Processing Server gets the request from Adaptive Job Server and process the
report.

2. How to do version control in Business Objects XI r2?


Ans: We can’t do version control in XI R2. It is possible only in XI 3.0 and higher version using Life
Cycle Management tool.

3. How many roles did Central Management Server perform and what are the ports it uses for
these roles?
Ans: Two (name server and request server role), Ports: 6400 and 6401.

4. What is the authentication used in the AD and SSO using Vintela?


Ans: Kerberos only (NTLM authentication is not supported.)

5. How to create Service Principle Name for service account?


Ans: By running KT Pass and SET SPN command in the domain controller.

6. What is Rights Override and when to use?


Ans: Is a rights behavior in which rights that is set on child objects override the rights set on
parent objects. Is used to break group inheritance and provide exclusive rights denied/granted
in parent.

7. How to distribute single report to multiple users with different views?


Ans: Report Bursting.

8. What techniques used for Report Bursting and what bursting technique possible for Web
Intelligence in BO XI R2?
Ans: Single Pass and Multi Pass. Only Single Pass technique is possible for Webi in BO XI R2.

9. How to add server with same configuration settings in a distributed environment in XI 3.1?
Cloning Server Technique?

10. How to create Business Objects Central Management and Auditing repository in Teradata.
Ans: BO doesn’t support Teradata for creating BO repository.
Universe:

11. How can we work with multiple data source in a single universe?

Ans: We connect to only one data source at time in a single universe.


Workaround: We can work with multiple sources through data federator and use this
as source for the universe.

12. What the Meta data sources from which we can generate Universe directly?
Ans: Data Services (Formerly: Data Integrator), IBM DB2 DW center & DB2 cube views.

13. What is the parameter option for shortcut join?


Ans: Shortcut_Behaviour with values Global and Successive.

14. In our DW we have transaction tables but in reporting we have requirement to generate
transactional level report and summary report. How can we achieve both of our objectives using
Universe without affecting performance while generating summary reports?
Ans: Built Summary tables as per summary report requirement and use Aggregate_awareness
feature in business objects universe, which will dynamically make use of transaction or summary
tables as per the reporting data needs.

15. What is Kernel approach and where do we use?


Ans: Make use of core universe components plus new classes & Objects. We use this approach
during linking of universe.

16. What is the best process for identifying and resolving loops?
Ans: Verify that all cardinalities are set.
Run Detect Aliases to identify if your schema needs an alias to solve any loops.
Insert the candidate aliases proposed by Detect Aliases.
Run Detect Contexts to identify if your schema needs a context to solve a loop that could
not be solved with an alias only. Implement the candidate contexts proposed by Detect
Contexts.
Test the resolved loop by creating objects and running queries.

17. What is the Join Path that prevent context detection in designer?
Ans: A one-to one-cardinality positioned at the end of a join path can prevent Context Detection in Designer
from detecting a context

18. What is Incompatible queries and how to allow/resolve it.


Ans: Incompatible queries occur when Objects from two different contexts are combined in a
query. The two Select statements are synchronized to display returned data in separate tables.
To allow incompatible queries to be run, we must select the Multiple SQL statements for each
context option.

19. How many levels of linking of universe can be done?


Ans: We can use only one level of linking. We cannot create derived universes from a universe
which is itself derived.

20. What is a Derived table and when to use it.


Ans: Derived tables are tables that you define in the universe schema. You create objects on
them as you do with any other table. A derived table is defined by an SQL query at the universe
level that can be used as a logical table in Designer.

When to use: Views or tables not available as per reporting needs.

21. What are the OLAP sources that can be used as data source for Universe?
Ans: Hyperion Essbase, Analysis Services and SAP Cubes.

22. How to view reporting and documents using URL reporting?


Ans: Using Open Document feature.

23. How many queries is allowed in a single web intelligence document?


Ans: 16.

24. Can we develop Web Intelligence report from multiple data sources and how?
Ans: Yes.
How: Create universes based on multiple data sources and use “Merging Dimension” feature to
show up data from multiple data sources.

25. When did Data Sync Error occur?


Ans: It occurs when we place a dimension from a different data provider in a block containing
dimensions from another data provider and the two data providers are not synchronized
through a merged dimension.

26. What are different levels of scope of analysis that can be set in Webi reports?
Ans: None, One/Two/Three and Custom

27. What is extended syntax and what are the contexts they can be used?
Ans: Extended syntax uses context operators that we add to a formula or measure
to specify its context.
What are the contexts: Input and Output Context.
28. Which Business Objects services handles creation of dynamic LOV in crystal report XI R2?
Ans: Report application server and page server.

29. What are the types of query filters in business objects?


Ans: Predefined Filters, Custom Filters, Prompts and Advanced Filters.

30. What are the multi pass flows of used by crystal report for processing reports?
Ans: Prepass 1, Pass 1, Prepass 2, Pass 2, Pass 3

31. Can we be able to create an adhoc Webi report hosted in Share Point Portal Server?
Ans: No.
