It is planned to conduct 15 hours Program on Design Thinking for Startup for III year CSBS
students to as a part of Skill Development Program for students through Mr. Jagadeesh,
Design Thinking Team, Centre for Learning and Teaching, SNS Institution from 29.08.2023-
31.08.2023 from 10.00 am - 01.00 pm & 02.00 pm – 05.00 pm on 3 working days. All

SYLLABUS
How can the design thinking approach be useful for startup entrepreneurs
Design thinking is a creative problem-solving approach that puts the needs and desires of
your customers at the center of your innovation process. It can help you develop products or
services that are not only feasible and viable, but also desirable and meaningful.
Program Overview:
Session 1 & 2
Focus: How can the design thinking approach be useful for startup entrepreneurs
Design thinking is a creative problem-solving approach that puts the needs and desires of
your customers at the center of your innovation process. It can help you develop products or
services that are not only feasible and viable, but also desirable and meaningful.
The five stages of design thinking
Empathize: research your users' needs.
Define: state your users' needs and problems.
Ideate: challenge assumptions and create ideas.
Prototype: start to create solutions.
Test: try your solutions out.
Session 3
Focus: Most important qualities of design-thinking
Creativity, lateral thinking, and intuition.
Effectively clarifying and communicating concepts and ideas through models,
sketches, and stories.
Being solution-focused—meaning designers make sense of a problem space by
proposing and trying solutions.
Participants:
A total of 66 students actively participated in the program, representing CSBS department.
Feedback:
Feedback forms were distributed after each session to gauge the effectiveness of the program.
The responses were overwhelmingly positive, with many students expressing a desire for
more such programs and an intention to develop entrepreneurial skill.
Benefits Observed:
Students are able to understand the objective of design thinking.
Students are able to understand the design thinking approach which useful for startup
entrepreneurs.
Students are able to understand the important qualities of design-thinking.
Recommendations:
Given the positive response and observed benefits, it is recommended that similar Skill
Development Programs be conducted regularly to support the skill development and
industrial need of our students.
Conclusion:
The 3-session Program on Design Thinking for Startup at KGISL Institute of Technology has
proven to be highly beneficial, equipping students with entrepreneurial skills. We believe that
initiatives like these contribute significantly to the overall development and success of our
students.
