STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE

SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME


The summer internship programme is an integral part of the MBA programme and aims at achieving the
following objectives:
 To apply knowledge and techniques learnt in the first year to real business problems and test out and
enrich one’s understanding, knowledge and skills.
 To give an insight into the working of the real organizations.
 To gain deeper understanding in specific functional areas.
 To appreciate the linkages among different functions and developing a realistic managerial perspective
about organizations in their totality.
 To explore career opportunities in their areas of interest.
GUIDELINES:
 Each student will be required to submit a copy of his/her summer internship report to IBM thru a
nominated functionary.
 Each student is required to make a copy of project in CD and submit along with his/her project report.
 All the students are required to follow the following instructions:
 There should not be any deviation from requirement of reproducing the cover page of the report from
the format prescribed below.
 Students should prepare an outline – “framework on which long written works are constructed.”
 Preparation of the rough draft.
 Rewriting and Polishing the rough draft.
 Bibliography usage to be mentioned
 The cover page must be hard bound in:
o Black color with gold embossing - MBA
 The size of the report would depend on the project undertaken. However it should not be less than 60
typed pages (Single space) on A4 size paper.
 All the students are required to use the uniform font and format (except in heading and subheadings)
throughout the text of the report. For example, if anybody uses “Times New Roman” of font size 12 in the
text, then he/she will be using the same through out the report.
 The project report must accompany a certificate authenticating the originality of the work done in the
prescribed format, as indicated below.
General Guidelines for Trainee during SIP

1. Punctuality (timeliness)
2. Maintaining healthy and cordial relationship with the people in organization.
3. Adapt to the work culture.
4. Obeying directives and advice from the seniors.
5. Showing a sense of belonging with the organization.
6. Maintaining proper Line and Staff Relationship with the seniors and subordinates.
7. A weekly report has to be sent a weekly report on every Saturday to their mentor through email detailing
the progress on your training in the given format

 Sampling Design viz. Simple Random Sampling, Cluster Sampling, Systematic Sampling, Stratified
Sampling, Convenience Sampling, Judgmental Sampling, etc.

 Tools and techniques used analysis of Data. Statistical analysis must be supported by relevant tables,
charts, graphs etc. as required
