1. (a) Explain clearly what is meant by anomalous Zeeman effect.


(b) Draw a schematic diagram of anomalous Zeeman effect for allowed
transitions between 2p and 2s states of sodium.

nuclei.

2. a. Distinguish clearly between the Zeeman effect and the Stark effect. [6]
b. Describe the two features of the emission spectrum of the atomic hydrogen that
revealed a flaw in Bohr’s model of the atom. [4]
