CLO # Course Learning Outcome (CLO) Taxonomy Mapping

Level to PLO
CLO 1 Students will be able to apply circuit theory concepts, C3 PLO 2
including Ohm's Law, Kirchhoff’s Laws, and equivalent
resistance techniques, to solve series and parallel resistive
circuits.

Instructions:
1. Attempt all questions.
2. Write your answer showing all steps required to perform the task.
3. Assignments should be submitted on A4 sheets or Assignment sheets only. Violation will result
in a deduction of 1 mark from the scored marks.
4. Each student will have attached this front page with his/her assignment. Violation will result to
a deduction of 1 mark from the scored marks.
5. The Due Date for the Assignment is December 02, 2024.
6. Late submission will result in a 10% deduction in marks.
7. No request for late submissions will be considered after two working days of the deadline.
8. No request to review an assignment will be considered after 2 working days of the review in
class.
Problem 1 Marks 2

Calculate the total resistance of the circuit as seen from the voltage source.

Problem 2 Marks 2

Determine the total resistance between point A and ground in Figure for the following conditions?
a) SW1 and SW2 open
b) SW1 closed, SW2 open
c) SW1 open, SW2 closed
d) SW1 and SW2 closed

Problem 3 Marks 1

Determine the voltage across and the current through each parallel resistor if the total voltage is 12 V and
the total resistance is There are four resistors, all of equal value.

Problem 4 Marks 1

Calculate the total current from the voltage source in Figure for each switch position?
Problem 5 Marks 2

a) The following currents are measured in the same direction in a three-branch parallel circuit:
250 mA, 300 mA, and 800 mA. Determine the value of the current into the junction of
these three branches?
b) There is a total of 500 mA of current into five parallel resistors. The currents through four
of the resistors are 50 mA, 150 mA, 25 mA, and 100 mA. Calculate the current through
the fifth resistor?

Problem 6 Marks 1

There is a total of 500 mA of current into five parallel resistors. The currents through four of the
resistors are 50 mA, 150 mA, 25 mA, and 100 mA. Calculate the current through the fifth resistor?
