Instructions

 Show all your work clearly.


 Write your answers in the simplest form where applicable.
 Answer all questions.

Section 1:

1. Convert 45% to a fraction in simplest form and a decimal.

6.  Decimal: 0.60
7. Convert 0.32 to a percentage and a fraction in simplest form.
8.  Percentage: 0.32×100=32%

Section 2:

1. Calculate 40% of 75 liters.


2.  40% × 75= 40/100 × 75 = 30 liters

3. A shop offers a discount of 18% on a $500 item. How much is the discount?
4.  18% × 500= 18/100 × 500 = 90

6. A student scored 65% on a test of 80 marks. How many marks did they score?

1. A population decreased from 12,000 to 10,800. Find the percentage change

 Change: 12,000−10,800=1,200
 (1,200/12,000) ×100=10%

 Percentage Decrease: 10%

2. A house was valued at $250,000 but its value rose to $280,000. What is the percentage
change?
 Change: 280,000−250,000=30,
 (30,000/250,000) ×100=12%
 Percentage Increase: 12%

3. A store reduced the price of a $150 jacket to $120. What is the percentage change?

5.  (30/150) ×100=20%
6.  Percentage Decrease: 20%

Section 5: Word Problems

1. A restaurant bill was $80. If a customer tip 15%, how much is the tip?

15% of 80

15/100 x 80

15/10 x 8 = 12

80 – 12 = 68

2. Sarah bought a dress for $120 after a 25% discount. What was the original price of the
dress?

25% of 120
25/100 x 120
25/10 x 12 =25
120 – 25 = 95

3. A school had 800 students last year. This year, the number increased by 12.5%. How
many students are there this year?

12.5% of 800
12.5/100 x 800
12.5/1 x 8 = 100
800 – 100 = 700
