36. An insurance company believes that people can be divided into two classes: those who
are accident prone and those who are not. The company’s statistics show that an
accident-prone person will have an accident at sometime within a fixed one-year
period with probability 0.6, whereas this probability is 0.2 for a person who is not
accident prone. The company knows that 20 percent of the population is accident
prone.

Based on the given information, answer the following questions:

(i) What is the probability that a new policyholder will have an accident within a 2
year of purchasing a policy?

(ii) Suppose that a new policyholder has an accident within a year of purchasing a 2
policy. What is the probability that he or she is accident prone?

37. A student has a wooden piece which looks like a sphere of radius R. he wants to cut 1+1+2
a right circular cone from this wooden piece for some math project as shown in Fig.
1. let h be the height of cone and r be the radius of cone. (as shown in Fig.2)

(i) If x represents the perpendicular from center of sphere to diameter of base of
cone, find the relation between x, r and R.
(ii) Find the volume of cone in the terms of x and R.
(iii) (a) Find the value of x where the cone has maximum volume if the

38. A factory manufactures boxes and almirah from metal sheets. A rectangular sheet of
tin 45 cm by 24 cm is to be made into a box without top by cutting off squares of side
length 𝑥 cm from each corner and folding up the flaps.

Based on the given information, answer the following questions:

(i) Write the expression for the volume (V) in terms of 𝑥. 1
