1. What is mol?
2. Which species in the following pairs contain more hydrogen
(a) 2.5 mol of H2O and 2.5 mol of H2

3. How many mol of iron atoms in 1 mol of Fe2O3 and how many iron atom in 1 mol
Fe2O3?

4. How many sulphur atoms are there in 3.8 mol of sulphur?

5. What is the amount, in moles, of each sample?


(a) 11.8 g Ar
(b) 3.55g O2
(c) 26.1 g Ta
(d) 0.211 g C3H8

6. What is the mass, in grams, of each sample?


(a) 2.3 × 10-3 mol Sb
(b) 0.0355 mol O3
(c) 43.9 mol Xe

7. Calculate number of atoms in each sample?

8. A 7.83 g sample of HCN is found to contain 0.290 g of H and 4.06 g N. Find the
mass of carbon in a sample of HCN with a mass of 3.37 g.

9. The ratio of sulphur to oxygen by mass in SO2 is 1:1


(a) Find the ratio of sulphur and oxygen by mass in SO3
(b) Find the ratio of sulphur and oxygen by mass in S2O

10. Calculate the mass, in grams. of a gas in each following sample,


(a) 500 mL of O2 gas measured at 25oC and 2 atm.
(b) 1.5 L of methane, CH4 gas measured at 30oC and 0.5 atm.
