Job Summary

We are seeking a QA Tester to join a small, energetic, and collaborative team to help implement and expand upon
our current product offerings to our residents, as well as our operations, marketing, and leasing teams. As a QA
Tester, you should bring the perspective of the customer/user, as well as a having healthy imagination about what
could go wrong and use these to enable quality on the team. We are building a culture of quality, where the
delivery of quality software and systems is the responsibility of the entire team. We view quality as a destination,
not a checkbox or gate. You will be performing exploratory and usability testing, with a focus on identifying
potentially risks in our applications, including any possible downstream impact to other applications/systems.

You will be on the forefront of working on customer and employee facing applications as we build the next wave of
technologies that will drive our resident experience to the next level. If you are motivated, passionate, a quick

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities


 Work collaboratively and professionally in a team environment to achieve objectives.
 Help develop acceptance criteria for user stories, with a focus on end-user behavior and possible error
conditions.
 Lead conversations with the team to develop a testing strategy that strikes the right balance of testing
effort (both manual and automated) and prioritizes the areas that will yield the greatest value.
 Educate teammates on testing techniques and partner with them to identify ways that they can improve
their craft to impact the overall quality of the product.
 Work closely with engineers while creating new features to recognize the potential for any operational
issues, assess the level of risk, and remediate as appropriate.
 Perform exploratory testing to augment the coverage of the automated tests
 Lead user-acceptance testing activities with stakeholders, coordinating where appropriate to ensure
smooth releases of new features/applications.
 Work with the team to reproduce bugs that are found in production systems, and document them
appropriately for the team to fix.
 Collaborate with Product Management to prioritize resolution of defects based on tradeoff between
severity of defect and impact to timelines.
 As a proxy for the end-user, evaluate the system with an eye towards usability, and work with the UI/UX
team to smooth out any interactions where there might be friction.

 Contribute to the development of metrics and KPIs around quality for the team, andDESCRIPTION

 Anticipate and adapt to a changing business environment and requirements.
 Collaborate and communicate with Stakeholders, Product Owners, Software Engineers, and other teams in
an agile work environment, including but not limited to design meetings, planning, stand ups, &
retrospectives.
 Participate regularly in Agile/Scrum activities and learn from experienced developers.
 Contribute to the overall knowledge base for the team and company, helping to keep our documentation
and practices current.
 Build your technical and business knowledge over time to continually grow your perspective and
contributions.
 Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience


 Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
 At least one (1) year of work experience in Quality Assurance.

Preferred Qualifications and Requirements


 Working knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile approaches.
 Strong and effective written communication skills.
 Excellent communication skills and the ability to relay and clarify information about acceptance criteria and
outcomes. Able to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical team members alike.
 Analytical mind and problem-solving aptitude.
 Creativity and inquisitiveness to explore less-obvious use cases
 Knowledge of testing web and mobile device applications on multiple OS and browsers.
 Knowledge of browser plugins/developer tools to assist in web app testing (view HTML, JavaScript, CSS).
 Experience with automated testing tools.
 Working knowledge of defect tracking systems (JIRA preferred).
 Ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.
 Work independently as well as in a team-based environment.
 Passionate about continuous learning and growth.
 Accepts responsibility and is positive in the face of fast-moving situations.
 Collaborates effectively within a team. Is open to, and reacts well to, feedback and looks for opportunities
to improve how to work well together within the team.

Physical and Mental Demands


This position will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The position may also entail
