3) Explain the result of sin in no less than 4 paragraphs-

Romans 5:12 says, "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by

sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” This text is a simple breakdown

of the issue concerning sin and humanity. One unmistakable result of sin is death. Richard Rice,

the author of, ‘The Reign of God’, stated simply that due to a lack of harmony with God, sin

occurred in the first place and is perpetuated for said reason.

There were listed several consequences to sin in the book: condemnation, corruption,

alienation, total depravity, slavery and original sin. Without question, disobedience to God’s will

and design would have fostered discord between God and humanity. Condemnation is

manifested in the minds of sane people, be they practicing believers or not. Our moral influences,

no matter how twisted, where black and white, right and wrong are concerned- we know when

we’re doing bad things. In other words, whether I am privy to unbecoming attributes in my

childhood, despite what I choose to do, I’d know the difference between what should and

shouldn’t be done. Guilt is engendered, hence condemnation being a result of sin.

Corruption is inevitably a consequence of sin as human nature has been compromised.

Observation, based on personal experience, encouraged my perspective to believe that the more

we practice something, the less thought goes into that practice. The human brain would not

reevaluate simple habitual decisions because they’ve become second nature; I would not ask

myself if it made sense to skip breakfast if I skip breakfast every morning. After making the

decision not to eat a few times, it would become my new normal and eventually, part of my

routine. Likewise, would sin, thus character corruption.

Alienation unfortunately proceeds sinning against God because our thoughts are warped

and wicked. Our nature is not unconditional forgiveness, so despite knowing that God is willing
to forgive the sinner, we choose to punish ourselves by giving God ‘space’ so as not to offend

Him more. We do that by hiding and trying to ignore His omnipresence.

Closely linked with corruption, total depravity refers to the fact that although evil is not

the sole experience of man, it influences every aspect of life. This is often seen where the urge to

laugh at someone embarrassing themselves is rampant despite our feeling bad for their actions on

their behalf.

It appears as slavery, total confinement to sin and its parts. One sin opens the door for a

sea of them, and unless we ask for divine Help, we cannot break free on our own.

Lastly, original sin is obviously a perpetuating result. Humans do have freedom of

choice, as did Adam and Eve (the first of our kind.) However, even though sin is not a matter of

genetics, due to its introduction in our world, the chances of choosing to sin are that much

greater than when Adam and Eve had not yet been exposed. Unfortunately for our society, that

inclination is only going to increase.
