TITLE PAGE

• Problem Statement ID –.1545id

• Problem Statement Title- Development of a non-electrical device

for tracking the movement of the sun for movement of the solar panels,

increasing their efficiency

• Theme-Renewable/Sustainable Energy

PS Category- Hardware

• Team ID-

• Team Name :EQUINOX

EQUINOX IDEA DETAILS
Proposed Solution:
DETAILED EXPLANATION OF PROPOSED SOLUTION:

Three Dimensional Movement of solar panel: Moves up to optimal angle, adjusting itself based on the sun's position.
• Gas piston system:

• Heat Receiver: Parabolic heat receivers at a 45-degree angle amplify sunlight, heating the gas for precise control.

HOW IT ADDRESSES THE PROBLEM:

• The panel maintains an optimum angle for maximum efficiency.
• It relies on heat sensitivity of gas ,eliminating need for electrical components.
• Here the use of pistons and gases make the movement of panel smooth hence increase efficiency.

INNOVATION AND UNIQUENESS OF THE SOLUTION:

• Here we are using heat sensitive gas and piston that is only mechanical system to track suns position for maximum efficiency.
• Here we are using parabolic receivers to concentrate the heat at one position for better efficiency and accuracy.
• It follow simple yet effective mechanism and it is also cost effective.

EQUINOX
FEASIBILITY AND VIABILITY

1. Analysis of the feasibility of the idea:

• Practicality : The design is practical for areas with consistent sunlight and moderate temperatures.
• Cost : Lower initial and maintenance costs make it a viable option for budget-conscious projects.
• Efficiency: It offers a significant improvement in solar panel efficiency.

2.Potential challenges and risks:

• Accuracy: It is slightly less accurate compared to active systems .During sunrise and sunset the solar tracker cannot track
the suns position.
• Temperature sensitivity : performance can be affected by cold temperature of gas may take longer time to expand.

• Weather conditions: Performance can be affected by clouds in sky, our system may not track the sun properly.
3.Strategies for overcoming these challenges:
• Improving Accuracy: Use better parabolic heat receivers. Implement a calibration mechanism.
• Temperature Sensitivity: - Insulate gas tubes. - Use alternative gases.
• Default mechanism:

EQUINOX IMPACT AND BENEFITS

Potential impact on the target audience:

• Cost-Effectiveness: Affordable and accessible due to inexpensive materials and no electrical components.
• Environmental Impact: Promotes renewable energy use . It can be used effectively in areas
where there is difficulty to transfer electricity due to harsh geographical conditions.
• Simplicity and Reliability: Low maintenance and durable design.

Benefits of the solution:

1.Social:
• Increased Accessibility: Affordable design makes solar energy accessible to more people.
• Energy Independence: Enables communities to generate their own renewable energy.
2.Economical:
• Cost Savings: Reduces electricity bills and maintenance costs.

3.Environmental:
• Sustainable Energy: Encourages the use of renewable energy sources.-
• Resource Efficiency: Maximizes the use of available solar energy . These benefits highlight the positive social, economic, and
environmental impact of your solar tracker.
