(c) Calculate the area of the ranch PQRS in square kilometres. (3 marks)
19. The figure below represents a bucket that comprises a frustum of a cone and a hemisphere. The internal
base diameter of the frustum is 14 cm and the internal top diameter of the frustum is 42 cm and is equal
to the internal diameter of the hemispherical top. The internal height of the bucket is 69 cm.

22. The distance between two towns A and B is 320 km. A matatu left town A for town B at 6.45 a.m. at an
average speed of 80 km/h. Fifteen minutes later, a car left town B for town A at an average speed of
120 km/h.
(a) Calculate:
(i) The time when the two vehicles met. (3 marks)
(ii) The distance from town A when the two vehicles met. (2 marks)
(b) At 7.15 am, a van left town A for town B using the same route and caught up with the matatu at the
same time as the car. Calculate:
(i) The average speed of the van. (2 marks)
(ii) The distance of the matatu from town A when the van was 12 km from town B. (3 marks)

(i) Taking x and y to be the prices of a blow dryer and a shaving machine respectively, form a
matrix equation to represent this information. (2 marks)
(ii) Use the matrix method to find the cost of one blow dryer and one shaving machine.

(iii) Dorothy discovered that in another shop the price of a blow dryer is 20% less while that of
shaving machine is 10% higher. Calculate how much she would have saved if she bought them
