AUGMENTED REALITY AND

VIRTUAL REALITY

Exploring the Future

How it works? basics
WHAT IS VIRTUAL REALITY (VR)?
Virtual Reality (VR) is a technology that creates a
completely immersive digital environment. Using a VR
headset, users can explore and interact with 3D worlds as
if they were really there.
EXAMPLE
Oculus Rift
PlayStation VR.
HOW VR WORKS?
VR Headset: Users wear a headset that covers their eyes, displaying a 3D virtual
environment.
Motion Tracking: Sensors in the headset track the user's head movements, allowing them
to look around the virtual space.
Controllers: Handheld devices let users interact with the environment, like picking up
objects or navigating menus.
Audio: Surround sound enhances the experience, making users feel like they’re truly inside
the virtual world.

How it works? basics
WHAT IS AUGMENTED REALITY (AR)?
(AR) works by combining the real world with digital
elements.
Real-time capturing of the environment using the
device's camera.
Digital elements are then added, like 3D objects,
animations, or text.
Users interact with both the physical and virtual world
through their screen.
LIDAR TECH IN AR
LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is a sensor that improves AR by
measuring the distance to objects using lasers. This technology helps AR
apps understand the environment better, creating more realistic and
accurate digital elements.

LiDAR measures the distance to objects by sending

laser pulses and calculating the time they take to
return.
It helps the device map the environment in 3D,
making AR experiences more precise.

IKEA’S FURNITURE APP
IKEA's AR app. Using the app, customers can place virtual furniture in their
real living spaces through their phone’s camera. This allows users to see how
different pieces of furniture, like sofas or tables, would look in their home
before making a purchase. It’s a highly interactive and useful tool that
improves the shopping experience by offering a "try before you buy"
approach.

EXAMPLE
DAY TO DAY USAGE
Brands use AR to create
virtual try-ons for fashion
or beauty
products.
It offers 3D product dem
os, letting customers see
products
from all angles.
AR advertising makes ads
more personal and engag
ing, which
leads to better customer e
xperiences.
