Give your answer of the following questions:


A. Enumerate ten (10) occupational health and safety procedures before
assembling and disassembling a computer.
Answer:
 Read and follow instruction on the manual carefully.
 Always power off and unplug the computer before working on it.
 Take off any metal objects on your arms or fingers such as bracelets, rings or
watches. Even if your unit is unplugged, there may still be some remaining
electric charge.
 Always ground or discharge yourself before touching any part of the computer
(such as the computer casing) and make sure your hands are completely dry
to avoid damaging any mechanical parts as well as to avoid electrocution.
 Be careful with the tools that may cause short circuit (such as screw drivers)
 Always full the cable connector on the handle and not on the cable itself
 Be sure you’re standing in a dry place and use only rubber shoes when
standing on the ground or in a concrete floor.
 Personal protective equipment is correctly used in accordance with
organization OHS procedures and practice.
 Hazard/risks in the workplace and their corresponding indicators are identified
to minimize or eliminate risk to co-workers, workplace and environment.
 Hold the components by edges and do not touch the IC’s.

B. Enumerate 5 materials, tools and equipment used in computer hardware


servicing, give their function and use.
Answer:
 Long nose pliers- used for holding, bending and stretching the lead
ofelectronics component orconnecting wire.
 Side cutter pliers- used forcuttingcopper,brass,iron,aluminum andsteel wires.
 Multi- tester - used to test the integrity of circuits and the quality of electricity in
computer components.
 Soldering lead- is a fusible metal alloy used to join together metal work
pieces.
 Tweezers - are tools used to manipulate small parts.
C. Why we use personal protective equipment in computer?
Answer: to protect yourself from harm while working. PPE can prevent or reduce the
severity of injuries and illnesses caused by exposure to hazards in your work
environment.

D. What is the importance of OHS procedures?


Answer: The primary purpose of occupational health and safety programs is to create a
safe and a healthy work environment. When companies implement OHS standards, it
allows workers to perform their roles in a safer and more secure environment, free from
any major hazards.
