Integration by partial fractions:

1. ∫ 𝑑𝑥
𝟏
𝑰= 𝒅𝒙
(𝒙 + 𝟑)(𝒙 + 𝟒)

Using Partial fractions,

𝟏 𝑨 𝑩
𝑳𝒆𝒕 = +
(𝒙 + 𝟑)(𝒙 + 𝟒) 𝒙 + 𝟑 𝒙 + 𝟒

𝟏 𝑨(𝒙 + 𝟒) + 𝑩(𝒙 + 𝟑)
=
(𝒙 + 𝟑)(𝒙 + 𝟒) (𝒙 + 𝟑)(𝒙 + 𝟒)

∴ 𝟏 = 𝑨(𝒙 + 𝟒) + 𝑩(𝒙 + 𝟑)

𝒂𝒕 𝒙 = −𝟑, 𝟏 = 𝑨(−𝟏) + 𝑩(𝟎); 𝑨 = −𝟏

𝒂𝒕 𝒙 = −𝟒, 𝟏 = 𝑨(𝟎) + 𝑩(𝟏); 𝑩= 𝟏

𝟏 −𝟏 𝟏
∴ = +
(𝒙 + 𝟑)(𝒙 + 𝟒) 𝒙 + 𝟑 𝒙 + 𝟒

−𝟏 𝟏
𝑰= + 𝒅𝒙
𝒙+𝟑 𝒙+𝟒

𝒅𝒙 𝒅𝒙
𝑰 = −𝟏 +
𝒙+𝟑 𝒙+𝟒

𝑰 = −𝒍𝒐𝒈(𝒙 + 𝟑) + 𝒍𝒐𝒈(𝒙 + 𝟒) + 𝑪
