Creating a Kali Linux VM in Virtual Box
1. Download Kali Linux ISO (64 bit) file from the below link

2. Create a folder ‘VirtualBox VMs’ inside D or any other partition which is having enough free
space.
3. Steps to create the Kali Linux VM
4. In Oracle Virtual Box Manager select the Tools option and then click New icon
5. In the Create Virtual Machine Window under ‘Name and Operating System’ provide the below
details
Name Kali
Folder D:\VirtualBox VMs
ISO Image D:\BSNL\kali-linux-2024.3-installer-amd64.iso
Type Linux
Subtype Debian
Version Debian (64-bit)

6. No need to change the default parameters in the Unattended Install option

7. Under the Hardware option select an appropriate Base Memory. In the figure below we have
selected 4096 MB as the base memory. Also you can see the total physical memory available in
the system (here it is 16384 MB). Keep the number of processors as 1 (default).
9. Click Finish
10. A new VM with name Kali has been created as shown below

11. Select Kali VM and then click Start button
12. Kali VM starts as shown below

15. In Select your location select India and click Continue
16. In Configure the keyboard option select American English and click Continue

17. Give Kali as the hostname and click Continue

18. Leave the Domain Name option blank and click Continue
19. Provide full name for the user and click Continue

20. Give user name for your account and click Continue

22. In the partition disk window select Guided- use entire disk and click Continue

23. In the Software selection window, Click Continue as above.

24. The installation process will start.

26. In the install the GRUB boot loader window select Yes and click Continue as shown above
27. Install the GRUN boot loaderwindows select /dev/sda option as shown above. This will install the
GRUB bootloader.

28. Installation is completed. Click Continue, which will reboot the virtual machine.

29. Login with bsnl as username and kali as password.

30. Installation of Kali Linux is completed and we have successfully boot into Kali Linux.
